Has any tried a "dive bomb" technique for Deepcroft?

So I obviously haven't had a chance to enter the R45 raid yet, being as I'm only R41 -- 16k from 42^^. So, all I know about the raid is what I've read here and on ZAM.

All this talk about being out of range of this Ogre's attacks got me to wondering if anyone is making use of the various ranged options for melee classes. Franciscas (MRD), Javelins (LNC), Chakrams (PUG) and Throwing Daggers (GLA) all have various levels of strength.

I tried out some of the basic Bronze Franciscas on Rank 40-45 mobs during some leves tonight and even they did some decent damage while giving me about 700TP in return.

Wouldn't it be viable for melees to stand out of range with these weapons, build TP, move in after and AOE, WS, then run back out? Not exactly a top DPS performance, but it'd stop melees from being MP sponges?

Again, I haven't been in the fight yet, so I'm not familiar with the particulars. Just trying to educate myself as a Marauder so I know what I can bring to the table when I finally do hit 45.
