so, i keep reading through these forums, and some things confuse me a little, and i want to make sure i want to get that cleared up. i have a lv ALC, with a lv 43 WVR as my next crafting class. i have the ALC gear, but i dont have alembic of the luminary yet, but seems like that doesnt matter. is there gear that goes above lv 50/55, for the main/off-hand and the head, chest, legs, etc., or is the 50/55 geaar the highest?
Likely you are talking about the melding gears, if such is the case, people in those threads is talking about the highest level gear available for that class, which we DoH call them AF gears, and the stats are of those of HQ.
The tools you will get from your L50 class quest, or end-game master crafting.

Right now, the only pieces of crafting gear that are higher than ilvl 55 are:
Head: ilvl 70 Artisan's Specticals
Main-hand: ilvl 70 Artisan's <Tool> (<Tool> varies by craft)
Main-hand: ilvl 75 <Tool> Supra (<Tool> varies by craft)
The best-in-slot for all other slots are ilvl 55, and can be purchased on the Auction House or crafted yourself. These three items, though, cannot be obtained without crafting numerous high-difficulty items, so will not be obtainable until you're reasonably proficient at your class, and have leveled numerous other classes for their cross-class skills.
are ther gathering tools as well as crafting? just got BTN to 50 last night, so im wondering if there is better stuff than the il50s
