Hello! I along with many others, may have been misinformed that it was impossible to skip over the i70 artisan tool due to the 391 craft/374 control requirements on the 3-star turn ins for the i75 tool or to craft 3 star items in general. But thanks to my reddit thread, detailing new materia caps (http://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/commen...pdated_for_23/) and a response from Eliroo, I discovered that it is indeed possible to go directly from the i55 tool to the i75 tool and to be able to craft 3 star items with only an i55 tool!!!
Strict Requirements: - FC In Control II buff (If you do not have this, you will not be able to reach the 374 control minimum for 3-stars)
Good Things To Have: - FC +10 Craftmanship Buff (Not required, but it will allow you to skip over 2x craftsmanship +5 melds).
By reaching 344 Craft/364 Control, you can have both FC buffs on alongside with a HQ Rolanberry Cheesecake to hit the required 391 craft/374 control for 3-Stars.

There is only 7x 1st Forbidden Melds and 1x 2nd Forbidden meld, required to reach these stats. If you opt out of using Control IV materia for the accessories, you can simply meld a Control III and a Control I instead. So it's relatively cheap! (Getting the Mastercraft Demimateria & Fieldcraft III Demimateria is another question though...)

TLDR: Level GSM Desynthesis -> Craft HQ Spicy Tomato Relish (yum.) or Spirits of Salt (Maybe, yum?) -> Trade in for Artisan Spectacles -> Pray -> De-synthesize -> Profit or Cry.

Yes, but the 3-star items you turn in for the Supra tool CANNOT be HQed anyways. So just spam Piece by Piece & Ingenuity II+Careful Synthesis II (Ain't nobody got time for quality).

What is the point of this?
It allows you to skip getting the i70 tool and also allows you to easily craft: augmentations, augmented gear, primal weapons, 3star furniture, or any 3-star with only an i55 tool (No HQ required if only the glamour is needed harhar!). For someone like me, who took a lengthy break since the beginning of 2.1, this makes catching up much easier!
But what if my FC hates me? What if we don't have enough FC points?
Get a new FC. Lol jk. Getting the FC buff might be difficult. But often, I justify this by doing a large turn in of Madman Whispering Rods/Militia Chokers for GC seals. Roughly 10% of these seals will transfer into FC points. So I often generate ~6200 FC points by myself (and a ton of spiritbond/GC seals for ventures or crafting materials via my Ingenuity II+Careful Synthesis II Macro!).

Are the demimateria crafted accessories required to meet the craft/control requirements? I just managed to quad meld my HQ raptorskin artisan belt, and it'd feel like an utter waste to have to replace it to meet the requirements.

I just ran the calculator with my current belt, and assuming that I can still get my hands on the demimateria crafted acessories, I'd still be able to meet the stat requirements to craft the materials required for Supra. I'd imagine without the demimateria acessories though, I'd have to go through more quadtriple melds to meet the requirements,

It is cool that this is possible and I don't mean to be discouraging, but I feel like someone needs to step in here and point out that this is not a practical goal for most people. If you just hit level fifty and got your blue tools from the class quests and you're trying to figure out where to go next, just get your artisan's tools. They are relatively easy to get and good enough to craft anything in the game. The supra tools are just slightly better, totally unnecessary, and vastly more difficulty to acquire.
How much more difficulty? Well, I've personally broken down about 60 pairs of Artisan's Spectacles, from which I have gotten five Mastercraft Demimateria and three Fieldcraft III Demimateria. That's roughly twelve artisan's tools' worth of turn-ins, and I am still less than halfway to the demimateria required for a single supra tool.
If each item takes you around a minute to make (and it may take you longer, especially if you are working with the ilvl 55 tool), you can make the turn-ins for one of your artisan's tools in about fifty minutes. With an optimistic 25% demimateria drop rate (twice what I have gotten so far) in just the right ratio of mastercraft:fieldcraft demimateria (which you won't get), you're looking at about nine hours of crafting per supra tool. More realistically, you're probably going to spend between twelve and twenty hours pressing your crafting macro over and over to get the demimateria for one supra tool, and that's not accounting for the stacks and stacks of HQ materials you'll need to HQ 419-durability items with the ilvl 55 class tool or the ~1200 shards/hour you're going to go through.
If you have the gil to buy your demimateria on the market board, great. Or maybe you're just that particular brand of fanatically driven for whom something like this is a fun challenge. For the overwhelming majority of players though, particularly those who are just getting to this content for the first time, skipping the artisan's tool while working toward the supra like going without a car for twenty years because you're saving up for a Porsche. -

You could go through the nooks and crannies and get yourself the Artisan Tool for say, Culinarian (since it's arguably the easiest stuff to HQ for Artisan trades) and use OP's method; You could get all your demimateria from Culinarian and push for stat requirements to to skip Artisan tools for the others.Quote:

That is a good suggestion. Getting one artisan's tool is an enormously prudent step for anyone who is going to try this. It doesn't appreciably lessen the work involved, though. My comments were based on my experience slowly plodding through desynthesis the past few weeks, using artisan's tools the whole time.
I applaud anyone who has the fortitude to do this. I really do. I just want to make sure people know what they are getting into.
