"Toll of the Warden" Weird word usage.

At the end of the quest "Toll of the Warden" Nananoby says "Ah, but it boots not to speak of things quite beyond our grasp."

It's possible I'm not getting something... but I know of no usage for the word "boots" where this sentence makes sense.

Maybe he means "...it's best not to speak of things quite beyond our grasp..."?
