"A Relic Reborn" complete reset when queued for Hydra fight.

Time: July 18 (cannot recall time been trying to report/contact for a few days)
World Name: Gilgamesh
Character Name: Akaru Goblinrage
NPC Name: Gerolt
Monster Name: (Hydra maybe?)
Class/Level: White Mage/50
Party or Solo: Solo, queued into Duty Finder
Race: Lalafel
In-game Time: Not sure, was daytime.
Area and Coordinates: North Shroud (X: 30, Y: 20) where you get "A Relic Reborn"
Steps:
1. I had finished killing the 25 beastmen for the White Mage relic weapon quest "A Relic Reborn and had spoken to Gerolt for the next step to fight the Hydra.
2. Quest appeared to queue for Hydra in quest log, I went to queue up but realized I had my chocobo out so right clicked on Chocobo dismissed him then queued up proper.
3. I noticed Gerolt had the symbol to talk to him above his head. While queued for Hydra I talked to him and he gave the speech when you first talk to him about starting your relic quest (i.e. Go obtain X from this beastmen place).
4. Upon looking at my quest tracker listed obtaining the weapon from the beastmen place, thus restarting the entire questline again. This also showed the questline at the beginning in my quest log. I STILL had/have the unfinished Thymus in my hands at this time.

I have sent a bug report in game, as well as contacted support in game which they referred me to the support site. I then contacted game master support via the site and was replied that they couldn't help me but to try another department. I then wrote to in game support via the support site and got an email today asking to just post it as a bug on these forums.

I have to now say how incredibly frustrated I am with this whole process as I haven't been able to just TALK to someone, not to mention I lost all the work I'd done on the relic weapon and all the gil it cost for the item/materia/meld (materia prices are through the roof as of late). Is there anything that can be done? Can you just put me back to the Hydra fight? I got the quenching sand and mists all ready to go but this has been just unbelievable. Does this mean I have to now restart the entire thing over, toss the unfinished thymus away drop another 80k+ for a new melded one and lose ANOTHER day to redo everything I worked for?
