Classic Final Fantasy Window Style

Hi i just wanted to make a suggestion to the development team about the user interface. I was thinking of maybe making the user interface look more like a classic final fantasy type user interface. You remember the white borders with the blue backgrounds and the little hand curser? Anyone whose a fan of final fantasy im sure knows what im talking about. Also wanted to know if there were a way to make the user interface client side instead of server side. Anyhow just a suggestion to you guys at square enix and by the way LOVE patch 1.18! You guys did an awesome job on it and i cant wait to see whats in store for us next! Rock on Yoshi-P and rock on Square Enix!!! :D

although im very happy with the new action bar and ui in 1.8
i read somewhere that the dev team plans on getting rid of the multiple click it takes to cast spells.
im sorry but i dont want a classic ui from FF. i am a key board and mouse player. i dont want to use a controller
which right now i am forced to use.

right now im using a ps3 controller with crappy drivers. i have to shut down my pc to start.
i know i could use a xbox controller but i shouldnt have to.

anyway. Yoshi p said he wanted to check out rift. lol rift, wow and eq2 were all basicaly the same as far as ui.
when i target a mob (tab) it doesnt untarget until it dies or i target something else. even if that means im healing myself or someone else. combat would be alot faster if you could tab target mob. click on ability and it effects mob. if you need to heal. click on player, cast heal. but your still locked on to the target. and i dont have to click twice on targets or myself to do these things. target mob, start attack,build tp, use skill, hit mob. start to run low on health, click on cure and it heals me with out untargeting mob. also if i have to use a pot. why do i have to open bag click on pot then target self, then have to retarget mob? thats clunky and slow. we need a spot on action bar to use items. click on them and there used. (self)

is this not what people want? do people want to use controllers on pc? do the devs just want to use ui on ps3?
if SE doesnt want to do these things then please just let me know and i will have to adjust.

my advise to SE is. please give us some options. options to set up our ui how we like it. please let us bind buttons etc.

im really loving the game now, i like the new patch and the content. i really wouldnt even mind starting to pay,
but please SE give us some options. i know there a million ways that people like to set up there pc's.
can i please atleast lock the widgets >.>

Actually, I was thinking the same thing as OP.

FFXIV just doesn't feel like a Final Fantasy, and I've been trying to figure out why. Many things are so obvious as to not even require mentioning--lack of chocobos, lack of a riveting story, and lack of character leitmotiffs (due to a lack of characters; otherwise, though, I'm happy to hear Uematsu again!).

But there are those small, idiomatic things that make Final Fantasy unique. Like the classic window set up. If the bar were done away with in favor of the classic menus, I'd be pleased as punch. I doubt that'll ever happen.

tl;dr It's a shame that Final Fantasy XIV doesn't feel like a Final Fantasy. Probably because Square-Enix isn't Squaresoft.

sidenote: look for an update of the motioninjoy software! With the new version you shouldn't need to reboot anymore.!
