Equiped Gear

I would like to see something that shows if my gear is equipped or not when I'm looking at them from the armory chest. If I want to convert gear to materia I would like to see a small E or something in the top corner showing that this item is equipped on one of my characters. That way I don't convert it or spend a lot of time looking at all my characters.

There is already an icon to see if the item is part of a gear set. Is this what you are looking for?

You can't see the icon in the desynthesis window and its tedious to keep going between the two.

Currently equipped gear doesn't show up in the armory chest at all.

If you are actually asking for a means to see if an item is part of a gear set, Dalocota is correct. There is a small page/note/paper icon in the bottom-right of the gear in the armory chest if it is part of a gear set.
