Monk Job In General
Alright guys, another noob question here, but I can't seem to find a definitive answer searching online...you guys are always so helpful and friendly, I figured i'd just ask here.
I'm a 28th PUG and grinding my way to 30th so I can begin leveling up a LNR. As I understand it, i'll need PUG 30 and LNR 15 to apply for the MNK job.
That's pretty much all I understand though about it.
My questions are simple:
- Once I have 30 PUG and 15 LNR - who do I speak to about the MNK job?
- Will the MNK job be based on a weapon I use and i'll begin leveling as a MNK?
- When I hit levels in MNK will I get new PUG skills AND MNK skills or will I have to choose between them?
- Can I put skills from MNK/PUG/LNR on my hotbar at the same time or just PUG and MNK or only MNK?
TIA for all assistance.

- You start the unlock quest, "Brother From Another Mother," in the Pugilist's guild (you get it from Gagaruna), but the main person you'll be dealing with hangs around the Goldsmith's guild. You will eventually get an item that goes in the bottom-right slot of your equip window that changes you to the Monk job. It can be unequipped any time.
- Monk uses the same weapons as Pugilist and the class and job level up at the same time (i.e. If you are a lv40 Monk, you are still a lv40 Pugilist and vice-versa).
- You only automatically get new skills for Pugilist. Every five levels you'll get a Monk-specific quest that will give you a new ability. You can use all your Pugilist skills as a Monk, but you cannot use any Monk skills as a Pugilist.
- Yes, you can put them all on the hotbar at the same time. You actually will also have access to cross-class skills from the Marauder as well. You will be restricted to cross-class skills from only the Lancer and the Marauder though.

Some at the PGL guild will direct you further.
MNK is, for almost all intents and purposes, an augment to pugilist rather than a new class. You will use the same weapon, continue to earn pugilist skills (monk skills are obtained via quests every 5 levels). Anything pugilist can do, monk can do as well save for one exception: pugilist class quests can only be done by pugilist, but since you must beat them all to acquire monk it's a moot point except for legacy players who unlocked it in 1.0.
And yes, you will have pugilist, monk, and lancer skills all usable on the hotbar. There will also be one more class you can use skills from, but no others. In addition, you get half as many cross-class slots. A level 50 PGL and MNK get the same total skills, but PGL gets 10 cross-class skills while MNK gets 5 cross-class and 5 job skills.
