Bard and Blm DPS

So I was doing some testing last night and it kind of made me wonder if i was doing something wrong. I have an i90 Bard with all myth, zenith bow, and weathered soldiery ring. I clocked in on him at about 250. But my brother who is a SMN was doing around 200-220 so I'm pretty sure that dot's got misses. What should a Bard with my setup be pushing out? How much does a Bard dot's contribute to the total? I also have an i97 BLM that put out 360. He is equipped with all weather gear, zenith staff and myth ring. Again i don't think the dot's were added in but I just need to know if this sounds right or I need a little improvement or a lot of improvement. About what kind of numbers should i be aiming for with the gear I have. Thanks for your help.

It highly depends on the fight, are you 'turret-dps' or do you have to move a lot ? Was there a DRG in your group, using Disembowel on your target ? Was Foe Requiem on ?

Also, dont forget to take into account the Egi you're using when parsing a SMN.

Try to parse yourself on dummies, then give us your numbers. If your rotation is correct, aim for 250-290 for i90, depending on your class.
Then, of course, mechanics will lower your dps, but eh, that's where 'knowing fights' and 'knowing your class' matters.

That was on the training dummies in Coerthas. His numbers did include his egi so I'm really just trying to figure out where I stand and see if I need improvement or what needs to happen.

At bard i90 I did a little over 300 on a dummy, with no party buffs, food or consumables used. 305-315 approximately. If that helps.

Parsers do include dots at this point Rhalgar. The very first few did not, but that issue was fixed long ago. I don't remember exactly what my dps was at i90 sadly, so I can't be a ton of help there. I think if you can hold 250ish in a fight you'll be fine for your ilvl content, your friends dps sounds like it might be a bit low.

So any tips on improving on them? I really like playing both of them and I want to play them to the fullest. What kind of numbers should I be looking forto play both of tthem to their fullest?

When you said it's a little over 300 on a dummy, do you include Flaming Arrow and Rain of Death DOT as well?

Rain of Death doesn't have a dot component. >_>

It's hard to pinpoint BRD dps from forum posts as it peaks every couple of minutes as cooldowns line up and people rarely give too many details on exactly how long they parsed and which dummies they used. The coerthas dummies actually drop hp pretty quickly and you can basically spam Misery's End on cooldown to inflate your numbers on those. I like the ones in summerford farms as it's a direct port and you can't cheat Misery's End.

Misery's End should not be using during parsing lol.. anyone who uses it intentionally is just cheating >.>

Typically a BRD parse is about 3mins plus a little before running out of TP.
