FC Gardening Plots/Systems/Privileges

Wanted to put out a question to all you FC Leaders/Officers/Members.
How is your FC dealing with the new need to get Chocobo feed/Minions from gardening? We previously had one person dealing with all the growing and harvesting, since the needs were few, but now that everyone wants to grow their own feed and minions, we find that the current system is incredibly constricting due to the space limitations and how long it takes to grow crops. So, how is your FC handling these issues? Thank you in advance for your feedback. Hoping to implement some sort of fair or at least close to fair way to keep all my members who want to plant stuff happy.

I don't know why SE thought that putting a limit of three beds for large FC houses was a good idea. If you're in an FC with 200-300 people who want to level their choco 4-5 times a day it's simply not possible. I think the implementation has been pretty poor and was sorely disappointed at this stupid restriction. Most people will just have to buy their feed from the market.

Only a couple people showed any interest in gardening so, in order to work carefully towards rare seeds, I restricted access to just those 2. We have 2 gardens. One is used for glazenuts and other rare mats; I changed the one I tend over to chocobo food for the FC as soon as I saw the seeds were available. Luckily, each plant produces 9 krakka. I put these into the coffer for FC use. I'm now working towards making the other food types.

On a side note, we discovered that a bird won't level up in the stable. Any food given to the max exp bird will result only in an error message and the food will be lost. :/ (I hope this is a bug.) I've posted a note to the log in info for everyone to remove their bird from the stable in case of level up. They can put them back afterwards.

eta: We have a medium size FC to go with our medium house. :3 Not everyone actively uses the house/stables or even bothers to level their bird. So, the amount of krakka produced will tide us over a few days. I will say though that I did get a number of "Are we growing chocobo feed now? When will it be ready? What about the other feed?" questions right away. XD

I'm struggling with this as well. Until 2.3 only two or three of us had any interest in gardening. With 2.3 and chocobo raising suddenly we have a huge interest and absolutely no way to feed the demand. I'm trying to come up with some sort of system to help dole out results based on those who supply soils and fertilize. I'm afraid we will never be able to meet the demand for our FC. The plants would have to grow twice as fast or more to be able to do it.

How did they ever think putting ALL chocobo food in gardening was a good idea? Krakka should be available from an NPC at the very least.

If you come up with something Tiggy please share ;( I'm really at quite a loss. This was a terrible idea to implement like this, and I know they're probably hoping we won't kill each other until personal housing becomes available, but they really should have just allowed us to have some pots to grow plants in our room as well.

Create a rank with specific gardening privileges for harvesting. Remove that privilege for everyone else.

Put X amount of people into that rank on a bi-weekly rotation (where X = number of beds available).

Allow anyone in the FC to fertilise/tend plants.

I just have it so only leaders can harvest and plant to prevent anyone messing up any crossbreeding plans and any food goes straight to the company chest...

The chocobo food is extremely plentiful as you can get up to 18 pieces per plant with grade 3 shroud soil and krakka roots grow very fast. There shouldn't be any issues unless you have an extremely disproportionate amount of people in your FC (like a hundred-ish member FC in a small house) or someone who is a greedy or immature jackass (in which case I ask why you still have them around). Managing the garden literally takes minutes of time investment since a lot of it revolves around timed nodes so I don't think it's really justified to lord over people with chocobo food of all things.

The minions are a different story, especially if you are limited to only one gardening plot. I would say if anything dedicate 1-2 spots for minion growing once your food production is going strong and make a request list or something.

We are a small FC and before our needs for seeds were pretty low. First days within patch a lot of members wanted to start gardening for themselves to get minions, chocobo good, glazenuts, etc. We started farming some of these items, but it takes several weeks to meet everyone's wishes.

If players could have their own small "garden" bed that allows them to grow 2-4 seeds by purchasing personal rooms it would offset the imbalance.

It could be a simple windowsill garden:
