GC display on character check, working as intended?

My rank is maxed on Inmortal Flames and Twin adder, currently on Flames, gonna work on Maelstrom next. I noticed something recently when examining players. If I go to

my character menu and under profile click on the Grand Company option, it will display my current afiliation and rank, and as I go through the diferent tabs, my position with

the other GC's. In this case I have a star on Second Serpent Lieutenant and Second Flame Lieutenant, while Maelstrom has no star. So far, so good.
Now, if I check other players, and I tried this clicking and examining myself too and also other people checking me, and click on the Grand Company, the same menu with

tabs and the diferent GC's will come up, but only the current afiliated company and rank will be marked with a star. What is the purpose of displaying all the tabs with the 3

GC's if only the current afiliation will be marked? You don't have to click on the full GC profile of a player to see which company he/she belongs to, so is this just a useless

step or a bug?
