Does rank needed for recipes need adjusting?

One of the things that has bothered with XIV having a greater emphasis on crafting is the rank required for certain recipes relative to the rank of the class that can use those recipes..

What do I mean by that? I'll give an example. A lot of people have a particular DoW they may want to focus on. I want to focus on MRD for example and I want to make a lot of my own gear for that job as it increases in rank. So I also focus on DoH like ARM and BSM. So as I'm ranking up my MRD I start looking at what gear I need to upgrade. I want to upgrade my armor to Bronze Scale Mail let's say. So I check and see what I need to do that, bunch of materials, shards, etc......WAIT...ARMORER LEVEL 30? Someone explain to me why that makes sense (this particular piece of equipment is not unique in this sense, btw). Why is the DoH rank I need to make something almost always higher than the optimal lvl of the DoW class that is going to use that item? I have to be a lvl 30 ARM before I can make a piece of armor to use on my lvl 20 MRD?

This perplexes me for lot's of reasons. If this relationship is intentional, it means SE wants us to focus MORE on DoH than DoW. I will have to put in more time as an ARM to make the thing for my MRD than I will actually getting to play MRD. But maybe that's not SE's intent. Maybe they don't want that lvl of self sufficiency. That is, maybe they don't want people to isolate themselves in the community to the extent that you can easily make your own gear for the DoW jobs of your choosing. The problem with that is then, that practically speaking the only reason anyone should get into DoH is for selling what you make for gil. It's not practical to make equipment for yourself since your DoH jobs have to be so much higher than your DoW jobs to do that.

Long story short SE it would be great if you would look into scaling back the DoH rank required to make certain items. In my opinion, to make armor for a lvl 20 or so MRD I shouldn't need more than say a lvl 21-22 DoH rank to do that. Maybe there is a good reason for this disparity and would love to hear it, but right now it frustrates me that I have to spend so much time ranking up DoH jobs just so I can make and finally get to use them on the DoW jobs I really want to spend my time on.

I think the whole crafting system needs an overhaul. 45k SP at 200-240 SP a pop with maybe 2-3 local leves per reset for my level range is brutal...

I can't imagine crafting in the 40s when you need over 70k SP per rank.

Just seems counterintuitive to me that if I want to focus on DoW classes I have to spend the larger chunk of my time skilling up the DoH jobs to make gear for them. I may have to resign myself quiting DoH all together and just buying gear through the market wards.

This is getting even more frustrating now when you get into trying to make gear for DoH jobs. The same scenario happens to apply to ARM. Bronze Mail is suited to ARM at lvl 19, but you have to be a lvl 30 ARM to make the gear for a lvl 19 ARM. WHAT SENSE DOES THAT MAKE? I guess maybe the two disciplies are meant to kept separate? Get into DoH to make gil, not outfit yourself as you progress?

There's still a lot of "backwardism" from launch still in there.

Like an armorer can sooner make a Bronze Haubergeon (ARM 23, optimal rank 27) than a Bronze Scail Mail (ARM 30, TAN 25, optimal rank 19).

Or recipes that can be crafted at rank 7 that require ingredients from rank 20+ crafters or high rank monsters. Ingredient wise, seems less severe than before now that we have all these high rank adventurers running around, but still...

The later is exactly what I ran into last night. Was making a Bronze Spear, which like lvl 7 opt. rank. And one of the parts for requires an iron square to make something else. The iron square takes a ARM at 23 or something. Just goofy.

The more I get into crafting the more I find to complain about. I have to have weaving to lvl 15 in order to make a hammer that also requires BSM 21? Really? You sure know how to frustrate the heck out of someone. I don't want to have to level every freakin' DoH class SE, just to make gear for myself. Unfortunately that's what I had to.

Let's recap: If I want to make my own gear I have to have a DoH at about 10 ranks ahead of the DoW job I'm trying to make gear for. AND on top of that I pretty much to lvl up ALL of the DoH jobs to make all the materials for the DoW job. That pretty much ALL I have been doing since I started playing this game. It is 80% lvling DoH jobs to make the gear to use on the DoW jobs that I would much rather be focusing my time on.

Needs fixing yup...but at least now there is the option of /sh "Someone help me make a part" and have a decent chance of someone responding.

Yes, it's getting frustrating. Since they added those quests where you get fewer (actually NONE) rewards if completed with a different job, I started doing other DOW classes. This increased my KO rate , therefore my gear damage process.
I think they also increased the rate for which the gear damages. I started to die mostly because of the increase of MP necessary to spell Cure. Damn!

At first when they said to replace repairing materials with Dark Matter, I was looking forward to the game a little more, because the repair process was simplified. Now I tried to repair my Rank 20 gear and I am told that "You decide to wait until you are more skilled to attempt this synthesis ". Well, I didn't decide that!

This all implies that Final Fantasy XIV is still a part time job. At least they should simplify the synthesis process.
