Crafting usefulness?

I picked up FFXIV recently again after reading about the 1.18 patch notes. Last time I played was around February and back then I was really motivated to level up Weaver. However looking at the new NMs and dungeons that have been added I have to wonder if I should bother continuing to level it. Is crafted equip still relevant? Should I focus on DoW classes instead?

I am curious about this as well.

once the materia system is in place 1.19 it will be.
