Option to turn off other Players, a solution from Aion?

Hello,

I am having a ton of fun in this new patch, however when I go after an S Rank hunt or Behemoth/Odin I get extreme spikes of lag that make me have to sit on the sidelines.

There was alot of large scale content in Aion such as Fortress Sieges where sometimes more than 800-1000+ players attacking each other and the fortress boss.

To get rid of extreme lag there was a command option (shift+f12) which would hide Other PCs not in your party/alliance(except names). This cleared up the lag dramatically in large scale battles.



Mabe a feature like this could be added in the future to FFXIV?

You know you can already limit the number of players displayed on your screen right? It's in System Configuration > Others.

this does help, but still too many people showing up, would be nice to only see party/ally only

Honestly, there wouldn't be much of a point to playing an MMO if you want to wander deserted scenarios. I understand the hardware limitations, but this game has set minimum hardware requirements for a reason :s

Yeah, playing below minimum specs and expecting them to fix issues you have is a little much. If you are playing on a laptop theres not much you can do, but you can upgrade a desktop.

it wouldnt be used all the time, only in large scale events where there are hundreds of people in a small area, you could toggle it on and off. i have been hearing that ps3 players are having the same problem.

it would allow more people to participate in this content.

I think the dev team did an amazing job optimising the game. I have my effects full and rest limited and have no issue. The only issue is getting bronze on Odin. :p
