beating miantenance time out..
so we went it Syrcus tower nice and early, had 90minns to clear the place which is way more than enough... so we thought.
turns out half the raid was new to it and you know how that goes, cue lots of explanations and a bunch of wipes.
however to be fair the raid was going good although it was taking a little to long to clear Scylla. after 3-4 wipes we finally made it through but it ate up a good chunk of time, a few people got whiney and someone even voted to abandon, but the motion didn't pass.
we moved through the trash fights with no issue what so ever.
que Glasya Labolas, again a little explaining but it was kept brief because of time constraints. took 2 wipes, at this point we lost a few players from our group notably a healer and one dps. but given how new this place is we got those filled again very quickly. third time round we got through like a well trained group mostly. lb'd and double flared to death when hp was low for a satisfying victory with a bunch of new randoms.
then onwards we went with about 15mins until maintenance was due we hit amon.
at this point I'm thinking if we can at least make it through this at least we roll on one more treasure before we are forced to quit. extremely brief cover of mechanics.. so brief I doubt the new guys knew really what to do or expect.
it was a little dicey in places and a few people hit the floor crying but somehow the raid pushed through the fight without screwing up to the point that we were in danger of failing. In truth you couldn't of asked more of them and gotten any better with such brief coverage of the fight.
so yeah we got to roll on the loot and it was great... looking at the clock though we have 5 minutes left and xande to go.
now I wasn't optimistic on this at all, in actual fact I thought we wouldn't get it done and was dawdling my way to the final confrontation of syrcus tower.
so we all gathered in the arena and I'm sure I wasn't the only person thinking not much point but what the hell else we going to do for 5mins except try and clear this raid.
now if the explanation in the last two bosses was brief this was more so. basically tank runs in and pulls, few people get locked out of the arena and things weren't looking there best.
a few quick messages appear in the chat log to inform the new players of the very few deadly mechanics if your caught of guard. so at this point we are all just throwing everything we have at xande with time ticking away at too fast a pace for our liking.
as the time disappears things are looking well, great.!! the raid is strong and bunched, healers are doing there thing and tanks are holding xande in place and us dps are just wailing on him with everything as fast as we can. things were looking awesome but that little shut off clock was getting so close it wasn't looking like we could make it.
now at this point I think everyone was looking to clear this before the deadline and everyone was moving near perfectly. we got xande down to about 10% hp and I was thinking we are going to get booted at any second, xandes hp continue to drop and I'm sure everyone's tension was rising and wondering will we clear it. low and behold we get get xande down the melee dps throw of all 3 lb's and the last few quick hits from everyone else makes xande fall down dead. what a relief.!!!
so now the only thing left is to com and oh wait roll on that chest....
we pop it open and well I'm a blm and what do you know yet another blm piece of gear appears, at this point I passed on two pieces because they were not better than what I had. but scylla's robe well that is a nice i100 robe that I wanted, I instantly roll need thinking time is off the essence. in my head I'm thinking I aint getting this robe we are getting booted any second as the time was 12;05, 5mins past time, and arrgghh people aren't rolling on the gear.
I throw a party message up saying roll.. still dawdling on the roll, now I know I'm getting this gear if people roll as the other blm took an earlier piece. so I message them again ROLL ON Gear, at that point they did and yes I got the robe. and throw out a quick thx to everyone and dive out the door.
now I went in with 4 other fc members and so I quickly shouted great run and have a good night to logoff for maintenance,
so yeah somehow with a bunch of new people to the tower and only my third run on the place we all made it through, the raid got gear and had fun along the way before we got booted.
and errmmm yeah end of true story...
