Naul is a nightmare; How to avoid this in the future?

The solution is easy, really. Keep NMs as is, but make the weekly elite mark S-ranks exclusively. If needed, boost the difficulty of the weekly mark even higher, say, SS for that week only. Make it so it literally takes a mob to take it down, at least until the interest dies down. At that point you can patch as needed.

I am happy I am not level 50 yet. That past couple days since 2.3 there has been nothing but RAGE from all level 50's about Naul. I have been soloing my story in Coerthas and the ONLY thing I see is angry people in the chat.

Ahahaha, there's much less animosity on Masamune, but you can still feel the frustration in the cold winter atmosphere. It almost melts the snow it's so hot. ;)
And I'm kinda jealous you still get to grind! Maybe I should make an alt on Coeurl.

On my server Coerthas has turned into barrens chat. All kind of Naul jokes, all day.

Increase respawn on the the current weekly mark, spawn with 1-3 min vulnerability down buff and/or dynamic scaling.

Static patching is meh cause it will just lead to "OMG TAKES 30 MINUTES TO KILL, STOP WASTING MY TIME SE", just make a real time dynamic scaling system so it doesn't matter how many people are there. Static buff would lead to problems for people that play early in the day. Make the system scale it starting from what the hunt was tuned for. So a mark tuned for 8 players will start scaling up at 9+. This would benefit FATEs, too.

Coeurl needs more low levels!! I have been trying to get some PF's going for Level < 50 and no one is ever interested! I don't know if the lower levels are intimidated by PF (I used to be) or if they are just not there! I have been thinking of transferring servers because of the lack of lower level community. I want a laid back causal group to goof around with and level with, but it seems everyone is already level 50 even in my FC!

Sorry for hijacking your thread. From what I have seen online I agree with it 100%. Naul is insta-kill right now, and it is causing spite. You HAVE to be at the right spot at the right second to get any credit, they need to increase his stats so it takes a good solid mob 10 minutes to kill him. Of course he would have to have a bajillion HP or defense, but they could always fix it later when the excitement dies down, like you said.

If you want to transfer only because of that don't bother. Is not going to be any different elsewhere. Since you can lv up fast people just spam DF or FATEs.

I so much prefer ffxi's nm system over ffxiv arr. In ffxi nm's only spawned on a certain part of the map. With Naul he can spawn anyware on the entire map. I would take leaping lizzy from ffxi with a 5 minute - 5 hour spawn rate over Naul anyday. Plus ffxi had widescan for beastmasters and rangers. There is nothing of the sort in ffxiv. Everyone can either see something on the map or no one at all in ffxiv.

All nm's in ffxi were at a set location on the map. Although some were abit large area, it was still a certain part of the map. Like on the west side or around a rock or on a beach, for example. FFXIV is just dumb, all over the entire map, that's just dumb.

I spotted Naul yesterday and shouted to tell everyone. People gathered and everyone waited about 5 minutes later he was zerged down.

I got 3 seals for my efforts and no weekly bonus. (Solo not in a group)

The mobs need five times their HP.

Next time I'm not shouting and I'll just solo kill him.

A couple quick fixes, namely HP boost and it will be a good system.

The problem really is how people are treating each other. I know i personally found Naul yesterday, in trying to hold for more people to come get the mark we were only able to hold for less than a minute.
What happened after that can only be described as the most violent slaughter of a NM i had ever seen, i mean really the damn thing was dead in less than two seconds. Of course as i was typing out the enemy position i was unable to target the enemy in time and lost my chance. I only got my mark when some seven hours later i chanced on the area and was able to get a piercing talon in and get completion.
As stated above Elite marks need to have higher than average HP pools if for nothing more so more people are able to participate.
