So Chocobo "raising" is basically feeding your chocobo and watching a cutscene...?

I'm a bit disappointed about this. This game got a lot of content and features but I think it takes the simple/lazy route a bit too much sometimes...

I know this content is already out and what's done is done, but is there any chance SE will make a more engaging system in the future?... As in, more than just watching a cutscene... ( - . - ;

How about some mini games?

Yeah I have to admit I felt a little misled by the trailer showing the chocobo kicking the barrels, I assumed it was some form of minigame too.

It seems the players are WAY more excited about companions than the dev team is.

It has so much potential that SE lets just slip by as the're doing stuff like this.
It's also cool that we can raise the cap but what for?

WHat do you mean what for? You can go past the cap and if the point allocation is the same through all 20 ranks then you can have all 3 trees maxed. If not then you can max 2 trees, it gives more variety for the Chocobo AND it also gives you access to two bardings.

and it says it doesnt rank up only give XP

Yeah, I was expecting some like XI minigame...

At least I can help raising my FC chocobos, I guess that's... cool? I do I get mroe food though.

Has anyone seen the XP once you are at lvl 10 and want to progress beyond? ... I have and it shattered my soul. 1,458,000. Thats to go to lvl 11. Players talk about maxing their Choco out completely, good luck with that! I'm happy I have the white robe on mine and will now move on.

Yeah, this is what I was thinking also. As far as the actual raising/training, you would feed your bird - and watch a CS. I'm a bit fuzzy on all the options, but once the bird was fed, you could then select a "training" option (walk around town, listen to music, do a delivery, etc) - these were also CSs.

I'm drawing a blank on any real mini-games. There was chocobo racing, but that didn't have any impact on the actual raising of your bird (at least not when I quit...things may have changed in the last 4 years).


ETA: I'm not saying the lack of depth in XIV is OK because that's how it was in XI. I guess my point was I'm not disappointed as I didn't expect anything but cutscenes. Now, I am disappointed with the raising process being only available through FC housing, but that's a complaint for a different thread...

You actually raised you chocobo and could influence a lot of stuff too. Not to mention breeding.
