So, after beating syrcus tower and watching the final cutscene, it' s obvious to me who the bosses are going to be in ct3: Unei, Doga, Nero, Cloud of darkness.
Now that we know cloud of darkness is from the void and entered a pact with xande to allow the voidsent to invade, it makes sense why there were so many voidsent enemies in labyrinth of the ancients. As for the dragon enemies, they are probably being controlled by allagan technology.

Judging by that image, we only have the Cloud of Darkness and Fernehalwes (joke) to kill ahead.
Also, I didn't took a good look at the diagram of the Crystal Tower, but yes, it did seem like there were only two more stages to the Tower. -

Ahriman, Cerberus, Two headed Dragon, and Echidna. along with Cloud of Darkness obviously. -

Ancient Dedal : Bone dragons, Thanatos and King behemoths were random encounter. Titan was the boss. As Ferne mentionned on another post, he had to be renamed for (obvious) reason, and was just renamed again because JP used "Acheron".
Syrcus Tower + Eureka : Scylla, Amon and a boss similar to the second were in Eureka, while Xande is the obvious last boss of the Tower.
World of Darkness : As mentionned earlier.
Wouldn't make sense to fight Doga and Unei when we just killed many of them manipulated by voidsent anyway. -

So why didn't they just say Acheron was clones of the final boss, honestly when I went through the tower the first time I thought to myself, or so he's been cloned to act as a defense before facing off against Amon, it made logical sense, that I find it odd that the NA team didn't run that idea by the JP team seeing as this whole tower did focus on the clone aspect pretty much.Quote:

There's 2 different "Titan" in Japan, apparently.
To avoid confusion, the "Titan" from CT was renamed Acheron (same monster in FF3, but different palette).
Unfortunately, our Japanese friend decided to name one of the mob in the new CT "Acheron".
So they faced the same problem : it'd be weird to have acheron-monsters while Acheron is supposed to be a general from Allagan army. Thus, they had to rename Acheron.
They could have said they were clone, but it wouldn't have been the case in JP but here, yes. Weird much. You can't have 2 different stories depending on the localization.
Now, from what I got from Ferne's post, I assume the localization team isn't really here to say "what if we said they were clone?" but more "Can we do that? Please? Pretty please?" -

The whole Acheron/Titan thing is amusing as a matter of what localization was willing to do but what the native region was not willing to do. They called Acheron "Titan," but they spelled it differently. Now this would have been very confusing to try and do in other regions. Due to the phonetic nature of Kana and the fact that "Titan" is used in the Japanese version of the game as a foreign word... Ok, let me stop there for those of you who don't know Japanese. They have this entire alphabet, or syllabary (syllable alphabet, if you will), called Katakana which is reserved almost exclusively for phonetic spelling of foreign words. Of which they have a lot. Most words in Japanese have Kanji. Kanji are symbols with inherent meaning. Very odd if you're not familiar with the language. But most of the native words in Japanese can be written with Kanji, which originate from China and in many cases have analogues in Traditional Chinese that are written exactly the same or with little difference and have no difference in meaning. But they have different pronunciation depending on what combination they are in! Wrap your head around that.
Simple explanation, we have one recognized way to spell "Titan." Trying to spell "Titan" differently in English, or Roman Alphabet, or any other language that uses a modified version of Roman Alphabet, would likely create a great deal of confusion. "Titan" in Japanese is already a very foreign phonetic anyway. I don't know this for sure, but they may have actually used a different phonetic for "Titan" in FF3 or any other FF game and chose to use that phonetic for the artist formerly known as Acheron. Meanwhile, as the euro-languages would make a mess with our trying to comprehend the phonetic trick the devs played in Japanese, Fern (and probably the others) decided that having many Acherons was better than having many Titans. Or Taitens. Or pick your awkward phonetic.
Does anyone know if the JP name for Acheron was a translation of "Titan" that had been used in FF3 or another FF game? The standard word used is タイタン I believe. The word they used for Acheron was ティターン (which is, amusingly enough, the same spelling used in Z Gundam for the "Titans" organization).
Sorry for the long off topic post, but this translation and localization stuff fascinates me. -

My prediction for Two-headed Dragon is that they're genetically/aetherially/a-wizard-did-it-ly modified fusion of our Unei and Doga clones a la Fusion Dragon from Golden Sun.
