Download the update in advance previous to the Welcome Back weekend.

Hello,

Well, the title says it all. Some of us have shitty laggy connections, and so I would like to download in advance the update to enjoy the free weekend fully. Could this be possible please?

No? They have to do a maintenance before anyone can download it.

The patch is in 1 hr, if your ISP is that shitty and takes you days to download it... time to get a new ISP

They're asking because you have to login to patch. If their account isn't active, they can't do that until the free weekend or the account is paid.

If I mention the Welcome Back campaign is because I'm not currently subscribed. What I meant is that I would like to download the patch previous to the start of the free weekend.

If I'm not mistaken, you should be able to log into your account from the client, just the play button will not pop up. So somewhere around the middle of the update maintenance you should be able to get the update. If this doesn't work. sadly you'll have to wait. I say this cause in FFXI you can log into you game account and update the game without an active account. The play button is just grayed out saying no active account characters available or some such. I could be wrong cause it's been like forever since I played XI, but it's worth a check since the worst tht can happen is it just will not update right?

Yea i think it lets you hit play but just tells you your account does not exist or that it's not active :P

Wilksha that would be the preferred method, but in FFXIV you can't update or even download the client if there isn't an active subscription on your account.

Well isn't that a great piece of knowledge. Now I know FFXIV updates are not the same as FFXI were.

If you did not have a valid / paid CONTENT ID, FFXI wouldn't let you update the game either, just PlayOnline. Exactly the same with FFXIV, where only the Launcher updates if you have no valid subscription.

... why provide bandwidth for someone who isn't paying?
