Velvet’s Guide to Getting a Static, and Keeping it Together.

Hello! My name is Velvet Machina of the mighty Cactuar server! This guide’s aim is to help you and your static maintain amicable relationship through the trials and tribulations of of FFXIV and how to achieve your personal goals as well as the goals of your teammates.

Since this post was entirely too long to post here I decided to make it available on Google for your reading pleasure!

One thing that wasn't addressed that I might recommend is that if possible, make all members be on the same FC, or at the very least share a LS that is not just the coil LS.

In my experience, players that alienate themselves so that their only contact with the static is raid time tend to become flaky or unreliable. Being in the same FC static members can do more things together and bond more easily. For example, my FC basically consists of 2 coil groups and some friends. We tend to do the few content that's doable outside a static together because we are all in the same FC. Treasure maps, raising gil for the house, Primals, etc. We not necessarily do things as the 8 core members, but it helps.

Also, I'd recommend that if possible, have Meat and Mead II (Food Buff) up every time your static is on raid time. It alleviates food costs greatly. You might also pop Back on your Feet if you feel like you can afford it to maximize success chances.

Any static that requires a guide to stay together is going to fail regardless. Having a good static group is essentially the same as having good friends, and if you need a guide to friendship, then I don't know what to tell you.

There are two basic types of raid groups in MMOs, and the kind where the members grow to become friends with each other who like playing together and refuse to abandon each other because they are friends aren't the relevant subjects of any guide. The other kind, where players are basically co-workers who get together to accomplish a common goal and then forget about each other the rest of the playtime, would benefit from a guide.

i would have to agree with this. the people i have raided with from outside my fc often made me or seemed to be alienated when we raided together.
