Mining speed question?

So I started a miner a couple of days ago, and have got to mid 20s. I actually find it quite relaxing to run around mining some of the time :) My question is regarding the time between mines in a node.

When standing at a node with someone else, even of the same or lower level, they mine significantly faster. The pause between taps on the node is a lot less and they're away and on the next node while I'm still on the second try.

I can't do it any faster, my interface doesn't allow it? Is there something I'm missing or is it just the fact that I live in Aus and am on a Japanese server giving some lag between the mining command and actual mining?

There's currently nothing that increases (or decreases) mining/ harvesting speed. It should be completely static between all players/ levels/ gear. Sometimes there seems to be a bit of a hiccup in the connection that delays me, but not often. I play with a controller and tend to just tap 'X' so I'm always mining as soon as possible. I don't know what might make others appear faster or what might be slowing you down, but neither should happen.

I am sure it is Lag/Latency related. There is no speed difference for Miners. Just take T5 for a good example. When Divebombs are coming and you react correctly, you will ALWAYS see your character going up first and all others following you. But funny thing is, for all other people it is the same. But in fact it isn't. What you see on the screen and what is really happening, are 2 different things.

Thank you, I guess it must be my slow ole Aussie connection then. I get people arrive at the node after I start mining and leave before I finish so I'm definitely slowed somehow.

When I was on the ps3, I noticed the same thing also. My mining was just slower. Pickaxing with someone side by side always showed them finishing off first and moving on.

On the Ps4 I am on par with pickaxing and I only notice the slowdowns when I get connection issues. (Ex: Netflix and Youtubes running at the same time I am playing)

I can definitely confirm this... Many times, my wife and I will be fighting a boss, and I'll see an AoE pop under her, and I won't see her move. So, I'll shout across the room to her about it, and she'll be like, "Duh, I already moved!" and then I'll see her move in game. It's also why you'll see people dodge an AoE "late" from your perspective, but they don't take any damage from it, because they actually dodged in time but what you see them do is a bit lagged.
