< Focus Target >
Hi, I'm a new healer SCH and loving it. PLD and DRG 50, most other jobs 25-35+, and main storyline finished, haven't gotten to the meaty stuff yet. I never used focus target until recently while healing. I'm on PS3, so crossbar space is utilized with macros. I've been using Tank as FT, but had to change my macros around < tt > won't work, and found "Physick" < t > won't either as long as I've got him focused. Anyone have any tips, and whether focus target actually helps in examples?
Please be kind ^^

I'm assuming you're asking how to use a macro to hit your focus target right? Try <f> instead if that's the case.

Just <f>. I don't know if <ft> does anything.
If your tank is always 2nd party member, better off using <2>. <3> for OT. Always want to keep boss on Focus.

Thank you. Yeah, it was a question about macros, and normally the tank is engaged with the boss, so I'd like to hit my DoT with whatever he's targeting, having a bit of issues with that. But the Big Question is why FT the boss, what's the true utility of focusing? More in real end game?

Seeing boss cast bars for some AoE or incoming tank damage.

Yeah it's mainly in endgame. It's used to watch teammates so that you can see their debuff timers (tanks use this when tank swapping) or in cases when the boss has ads that you attack but the boss still has large attacks you need to watch. The focus target shoes you buff timers and the targets cast bar.

It'll be more prominent in the binding coils of bahamut turn 5 to see specific boss moves and when to prepare/move against them.
Up until then, it's useful for knowing the timing against spikey boss moves that will endanger your main tank (Titan's mountain buster/Ifrit's incinerate).

Thank for all the replies. After work I'll fidget with my macros a bit and test them out using FT.
(Sorry in advance to the Roullete parties I'll be using as test rats)
