Botting in dungeons: is this a thing now?

Hi all,

Just wanted to ask if anyone else has encountered another character who to all appearances is botting in a dungeon? I ran Tam Terra just recently, and the tank was just terrible. And not in an "im new to the game and learning this class" sort of terrible; it was on par with what I would imagine a program would control a character in a dungeon. Is this going to be a thing? Also, I don't think he was trolling, because trolls generally jump around a lot more. I just don't know what to make of this experience..

Without knowing exactly what they did wrong it's hard to say if they were botting or not, but it definitely does happen and has done for awhile. Albeit rare.

while there is a chance this person was botting, there is also the chance that you ran into what i have run into before; someone who has no ability to comunicate. in my case, one of the dps was being played by an 11 year old. needless to say, the run was horrible. it was the first time a copperbell mines had gone so badly.

I have encountered this kind of thing myself. A tank kept moving forward in a Castrum Meridium run once and never stopped even when the pt was hanging by a thread as far as HP all the while saying "Go Go go!" in /say. This is the one time I have been absolutely sure someone was botting. I don't know if this is similar to what happened to you or not. If you are sure the player is botting and not just without practice, I would advise you use the vote kick system and select "Cheating" as the reason.

I'm with the OP on this one. Just ran into a botter in Brayflox. After the first 2 failures at the end boss, the other 3 of us stayed outside the final boss's area. The tank didn't notice, didn't say anything, didn't even act any differently than they did before. So, we vote abandoned.

On that last boss, they never hit any of the other goblins when the machine was running along the outside, they didn't even try to hit any bombs and they didn't even consider stepping out of any aoe's.

Did you submit a report? I heard horror stories involving bots in dungeons... so it might be a possibility. I remember back in the day when these small bugs in WP used to drop gil. There was a small group or RMT or bots possibly, jumping around the map, killing these bugs and getting the gil. SE realized that and they patched these monsters, so they don't longer drop money.

At least I know im not imagining things anymore lol. I didn't report, because I really am not for sure if it was 100% botting. I didn't want to report in case it was just a case of it being a child, or someone super new. For the final boss of TamTerra, the tank just ran around the circle, made no attempt to pick up adds, or attack the imps. The entire party were trying to get him/her to say or do anything other than run around like that. I believe in giving everyone a chance, but the behavior was definitely odd. I will take the advice given and send in a report if this happens again. I really, REALLY hope it will not!

damn... so RMT are getting money from tank duty bonus now?

but since it is a tank, whole party can notice it easy rigtht, please submit ticket every times when you see how he acting strange.

Is a bad player, I don't get why that's so hard to accept.

I don't see the point in botting on dungeons. What can they get out of it? A tank bot that plays so bad 99% of the times cannot finish the dungeon or it will take a very long time and for what? 4000 gil. You can make a lot more money with other means in the game.
