2h sword class/job?

i'm new to the game and I was wondering if there were any plans to add a 2hand sword job/class to the game? Could be a Dps/offtank hybrid
squire/crusader

They haven't said anything yet, although it will be cool if they add one.

Popular suggestions are Dark Knight, Samurai or Soldier (aka Cloud)

It was mentioned in a old post on the forums (though lost track of it due to being months since it was last discussed) that two-handed sword class/job is already considered to be in development due to Yoshi-P wanting to keep Two-handed sword as a separate class/job rather than giving it to Gladiator due to all the rebalacing, countless new animation for Two-handed sword combat and skill use, and reworking of GLA if it was given a Two-handed sword.

Not sure when they could make a two sword class but it would be quite cool if it was a class that started off as DPS and then you can pick two jobs (like Arcanists with SMN/CNJ) where one job is a tank and the other is dps. Not sure how they could balance something like that but it would be an awesome addition to the game.

It would probably take a good deal of balancing, but this is a good idea.

Dark Knight would most likely fit that role and probably come off Maurader/Thaumaturge

But it'll be at least 6 months before they ever had new jobs.

I remember there was a old interview about future Jobs having more serious effects on class skills.

When it was discussed Yoshi-P used Gladiator and Dark Knight as Examples being that DK is a DPS Job for GLA and if GLA becomes a DK some of GLA skills will be changed into DPS skills like his tank enmity combos will be adjusted into DPS combos with the enmity effects removed and damaged of the skills increase or given some DPS effects. Also some animation changes like Flash (enmity AoE skill) turns into Darkness (Damage AoE skill).

but these are just examples and Yoshi-P said it doesn't mean GLA will be given DK but he uses these two as examples a lot when discussing the future Jobs having more serious effects on class skills.

Would really like a Viking Job for 2h swords.

I want Dark Knight to use a scythe *cries*

Samurai, Dark Knight and such are all good job ideas... but what would the base class be called?
