The pirate's map has strange unknown islands on it...

Gentlemen, i present to you the following map captured from the pirate forces located in Sastasha.

It displays, what i can see, Limsa in the top and most of the coastlines of La Noscea. But i'm not entirely sure.

It also displays three strange unknown islands further to the south-west.

Does anyone have any idea what part of the world-map (if there is one) this piece displays?

Hullbreaker Isles? Dunno.

It's hard to pinpoint what that map is exactly showing. Is the landmass on the top right La Noscea or is it suppose to be part of the larger continent of Eorzea?

If it is the large portion of Eorzea then I don't see Limsa or La Noscea on the map. If it's La Noscea, then I don't see Limsa unless Limsa is suppose to be represented by that object with a banner under it on the top left corner.

Also, what is suppose to be the thing where all the lines meet where the target-like symbol is displayed near the lower right hand side of the map.

This map is rather confusing.

Based off of this map we can speculate that it is one of two, out of the possible five seas surround Eorzea. Either Rhotano Sea or Indigo Deep. The seas are what are represented by the target symbols which ultimately show how they overlap with each other. So I answered my own question after some research.

However that aside, if we were to assume that the smaller pirate map corresponds with the larger map that would mean that target symbol is the center of a particular body of water, likely the Rhotano Sea, in my opinion. But it still doesn't quite match up.

So, I have no idea what those islands are.

I thought that the bunch of islands off the coast in the north represented La Noscea, and the rest of the coastline unexplored territory. But going by the official world map, it curves off and is all a big island, not a long stretch of land. So i'm utterly confused.

The star thing with the lines is a compass point i suppose, displaying N, E, S, W and all the directions in between, but still cant place it.

Just a theory, but i think that could be a nautical chart representing the area of sastasha and it's soroundings and of course the sea entrance to the hideout.

In that case those islands are just rocks.

Isles of Umbra?

Can anyone decipher the title on the map in the little banner on the upper left hand side?

So this Doerthas, is that a new area for the expansion or summin'?

It's an interesting idea, but you can go along that entire coastline there and on the map, even that far zoomed in, there are no islands or cliffs to find there. Nothing that would even remotely correspond with what we see.

The Isle of Umbra as well as the western beastmen daily island dont correspond in shape, size or amount to the islands either. Not to mention if it were the case, the entire coastline differs as well.

At this point, i'm more leaning towards it being either a poor remnant of 1.0 that they didnt get out of the game, or simply a poorly designed map they let an intern draw as decoration without any real resemblance to an existing (current or future-implemented) place.

It can't be Hullbreaker Isle. Lodestone info clearly states that is going to be in The Cieldaeles.

Based on the geography of the islands, the bottom middle looks a lot like Isles of Umbra and the western-most island looks a lot like Moonshade Isle (the small island introduced for the Sahagin beast tribe quests).

But I see where the confusion is coming from, those two islands shouldn't be that close to one another should they? Maybe the pirate in Sastasha that made this map is an idiot and got thrown out to sea? :p

Edit: After looking at the islands in the game, that bottom middle one actually looks nothing like Isles of Umbra. Not sure why I thought it did... :p

Well from the map if you believe the tidal markers are correct you can tell there are actually only 3 islands off the coast not 4. The two island's closest to land should have a straight between them it doesn't so you have to assume they are connected underneath the water making it to shallow for a ship to cross. Also if we assume because of the style of the map it matches the grand map (which btw I have issues with specially the grid markings are more cyptic then they should be) that the maps top is north the wave pattern near the coast has an inlet not a cliff face meaing there is a straight into some type of beach or river way. If that theory holds true ,and there is not a beach hidden amongst the western cliffs Renik pointed out, the map is of north of Vylbrand at the inlet under Dravania. Which if you look there is a man made bridge at the inlet so there might be a ship passable inlet. Which might double as an old Ishgard trade port.
