[Doubt] ARC or BRD

Hello all,

I'n new at FF XIV: A Realm Reborn and I created an Archer, however I'd like to know if it's worth 'evolve' it to Bard or if it's better to keep as Archer, for DPS purpose. And one more thing, when I get the lvl 30 for ARC, should I immediately chance to Pugilist? If it's a better choice to 'evolve' from ARC to BRD.

Short answer: yes.

Unlocking brd gets you some extra dexterity, as well as unlocking new support abilities (songs) that groups will love you for. You'll lose some of your cross-class slots but it's still very much worth it.

What about the statuses and bonus points that I've distributed so far? Since I'm an Archer, I'm focusing on 'Dex'... When I change to Pugilist, do I have to focus on 'Str'?! And the equips?

put all on dex, bard has low damages output compare to other dps, therefore; you want to boost the damage as much as possible.

Thank you both for helping me with this doubt. I'll do the best I can do become a great Bard and help others in game!

Agreed all dexterity, only stats that will change is once you hit lvl 50 with different weapons and such. At level 50 accuracy and crit is more important but
feel free to ask more questions once you get there.
Bard has 2 class abilities that i use as cross class for my blm as well :)

If you haven't unlocked any cross class skills and added them to your archer, you might find it helps to get a head start on that. Once you reach a certain level of your first class the ability to level others alongside it is unlocked, so assuming you've made your first trip to Uldah you can go to PGL guild and start levelling that alongside your archer to get skills usable by both classes. One skill you can get quickly by levelling PGL is Second Wind which gives you a burst of HP in an emergency. When that's unlocked as PGL, add that to your Archer under Actions and Traits after switching back to that class and you can use it too. But don't spend too much time now trying to get cross class skills from all the other classes, I'd stick with PGL for now since you'll have to get it to lvl 15 eventually anyway and having Second Wind available to your Archer might help keep you alive in the more difficult class quest.

Each class has its own set of points, so the points you've used on ARC will have no effect on your PGL. Only time this gets messy is Arcanist, because Summoner and Scholar share the same points.

Good point with the attribute allocation. From a gear perspective most Disciple of War gear equippable by ARC/BRD below level 50 has stats suitable for PGL/MNK as well and that's definitely the case up to level 15 PGL. Like if something has Dex + 2, it probably has something like Str + 2. So if you held onto any lower level gear you can probably reuse it. But- I just noticed you're on the same server as me so I can craft some HQ (high-quality) gear for your PGL that has better stats than the NQ (normal quality) version we get from quests and NPC sellers which should help you get through the hunting log faster (since you're better able to fight enemies a bit above your level) and just give it to you. I have display names turned off by default but if you send me a Tell or Friend Request when I'm on I'll know you're there and I can help you out.
