Failure to Launch
I could login and play FFXIV before the update just fine. I downloaded the update yesterday and now get the following:
Failed to launch Final Fantasy XIV
Error Code: 216
This version of ffxivgame.exe is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running. Check your computer's system information to see whether you need a x86(32-bit) or x64(64-bit) version of the program and then contact the software publisher.
I'm a little confused as to why the update would render my computer unable to play the game. It's supposed to improve things isn't it?

Well, had to uninstall/reinstall game in order to fix it. All is good once again. Or as good as it's going to get for now anyway.

You may have left some program files sitting around on your first uninstall, creating duplicate program files,
thus, creating programming issues. This update would not change install criteria. Go through your PC and assure
you have not any FF duplicate files.

Well, since I didn't do any uninstalls prior to this one, there would be no duplicate files. Aside from a couple of disconnects, this is the first error I have had to deal with since installing the game. The 216 error didn't pop up until after the update (which would lead one to believe that the update caused the error) at which point I did my first unintall/reinstall of the game. Which seems to have fixed it since I can now log in.

The updater probably broke a file(the executable in this case). Seems to happen alot.
