Alting a Sch from a Smn

So I just started FFXIV:ARR and I chose a Arc then I'm a Smn but out of each dungeon I have done I had to use physick a lot of times because the healer wasn't put forth the effort 2 heal and I have been thinking a lot if I should switch between Sch and Smn for 8 man party content depending on my fc group. I really want 2 try Sch so does any1 got some tips for me.

these r the things I want 2 know.


Which one do u recommend out of all of the end game content Sch or Whm.


Which one in ur imo is Fun Please use 1-10 scale so I can get a overall idea.


any other tips.

ok. first, as arcanist you should not be using physick in a dungeon unless things are *really* bad. Most times in low lvl dungeons healing is soooo easy, especially if you have a sch. Something about the way you have this worded makes me think the healers are putting forth the right amount of effort, I guess because you make it sound like this happens all the time. When I'm on SCH in a dungeon before Stone Vigil, I'm more dps'ing than healing. Anything under 30 especially Eos handles everything.

Cleric Stance is good for sch, (smn doesn't get it, or need it) obviously need to use it properly and keep people healed. In dungeons even @ 50 unless tank is speedrunning I can get away with dps'ing and healing solely via lustrate (which is not affected by cleric stance)

SCH and WHM have their advantages for endgame, but SCH is coming out ahead, except they're complimentary; you wouldn't want 2 of either.

I haven't played WHM enough to say which is more fun, SCH can be more work if you need to place your fairy in specific places.

If you wish to play both SCH and SMN I adamantly recommend levelling 2 characters. ...but then again I think 2 characters is good for anyone who plays enough.

If you've put all of your bonus points under intelligence like people tell you to...the scholar part of arcanist is going to have more work keeping up the heals. I would suggest buying the conversion parchment from the grand company. Reset at least 15-18 of the total into mind. It will gimp the summoner a bit but not so much as to make them unusable.
You can offset the rest with intelligence enhanced gear when playing summoner.

You can't just keep tossing 10k seals every time you want to switch jobs, especially when that equates to sellable things now.

No, levelling a character's first job is easy as pie, you want to play both, do 2 characters. Make them racially appropriate to their job (dunesfolk, roegadyn, keeper of the moon for sch, elezen or plainsfolk for the smn) and you're looking at about a 35 stat gap.

And double soldiery, lockouts, etc.

It's not that much more work honestly, you still get plenty of MND from gear. With full INT I can heal Brayflox SRs with little to no issue (Even with i80 Omnilex). What helps is having macros that chains Embrace to your ST heal skills (including Lustrate and Leeches).

If you really care about Min maxing then Alistaire is right, make an entirely separate character, other then that, full INT SCH is not that bad

The bonus point split is a one time thing usually lol. I haven't met anyone who's done it twice.
Tbh I deleted my alts at endgame because having more than one character was stressing me out.

You are comparing Healing and Dpsing which really up to personal favourite...but I could give you some tip here.

1. See healers not healing in dungoen doesn't mean they are bad, it still fine as long as nobody die.
2. Lack of 30 MND is acceptable but lack of 30 INT is big (not telling you the stat allocation, it's upto your condition)
3. You can bring alt to T6-7 or lower content without problem but rather focus on ur main for T8-9.
4. If you are not lv 50 yet, be SCH for faster DF que, once you got SCH to 50, you got SMN lv 50 too.

yah..thats the easiest. 15/15 split.
Its a unique problem with the arcanist class and the topic usually flips people out a bit.

I did the same thing you did, started out as SMN, and slowly transitioned to SCH later. SMN definitely needs the boost more than SCH does, so I'd say keep your points in INT.

Even without the extra 30 Mind, I've healed T5/Levi EX with no issues on my SCH at i91. The main thing to being a successful SCH is to have your fairy on Obey, and use her abilities as if they were your own.
