Black mage transpose doesn't always occure in order

The problem is really simple. For starters, I'll describe the step-by-step order of events that -may- happen:

1. Fire III, Astral Fire III is applied
2. Cast spells till roughly 400 MP
3. Cast Flare (with or without Swift Cast)
4. Transpose immediately when cast finishes
5. User is depleted of MP and is stuck in Astral Fire III

What I suspect that happens is that Transpose takes effect before Flare refreshes the Astral Fire effect, even if Transpose is used -after- the Flare. But if the user is quick enough, Transpose will grant the user Umbral Ice before Flare refreshes the Astral Fire effect (this is also observed in the battle log as well as the buffs being applied on the user)

This doesn't happen often, however. Replicating this "bug" may take a few attempts.

It's not a bug. You get your stacks slightly after the cast time is over (When the spell actually goes off, which is about half a second after the spell finishes). Transpose happens, however, immediately. Working as intended, as they say.

This is the same problem tanks have with theirs CDs, particularly Hallowed Ground.

I suggest this is like bombast, like the proc´s of Firestatert pop when you hit, not when you cast...

you transpose to UI1, then Flare hit´s and sends you back to AF3...

I have never had that happen to me and I always transpose immediately after I see my flare cast go off. Maybe you are lagging a bit? Either way, waiting a split second longer than you have been SHOULD fix the issue. :)

This is a recent problem actually. I thought they mentioned somewhere it was currently a bug and they were going to fix it. Transpose could only be applied one tick of time after your spell finished previously and it wasnt a change but more a side-effect they did not intend from other changes.

While they promised to fix it, they not not specificly say when or how.

Thing is, if it's much like tank CDs (as in, they pop late), then wouldn't Transpose take effect -after- your previous spell hits?

If you assume there's a "delay" before getting the stacks after each spell or ability used, shouldn't that apply for both flare and transpose? The "bug" I mentioned happens because Flare gives you astral fire -after- Transpose gives you umbral ice. Resulting that the astral fire overrides umbral ice (which was only there for a brief moment)

Just because one spell has a delay in affect, doesn't mean they all do.

When I say tank abilities, I'm referring to things like Hallowed Ground, which goes off slightly after the move goes off. Which leads to the embarrassing situation where the move goes off, and is now cooling down, but you still die.

What you are describing is not a bug - it's how these spells work. Transpose is instant, while Flare takes a fraction of a second to actually hit, which is why you go Fire, ice, Fire. Which isn't to say it shouldn't be changed (It bugs the hell out of me too), only that this isn't the proper place for the complaint.

But the thread is here, and sooner or later SE will address it I suppose.

This is an extremely frustrating "bug" which can sometimes prevent you from casting anything for around 12-15 seconds (and realistically takes you about 18-20 seconds to fully recover without a convert/ether). It probably only happens to me after a hard casted flare 1-5% of the time, but the downtime caused by it is horrendous and will easily take you from first to last in any encounter. When trying to maximize dps getting the astral ice up asap is vital as it can mean the difference of having an instant mp tick or having to use another global waiting for a mp tick. With this "bug" in effect you have to weigh having to wait an extra second to transpose causing a small dps loss, or take a huge dps loss occasionally when using transpose instantly.

I think it ruins the flow of playing BLM, and I would like to see this somehow fixed even though it's technically not a bug.
