Levi ex SCH healing
i farmed this trial so much i know when the team is about to get hit hard. I always use fey covenant or stone skin myself and my fellow healer before the whirlpool hits us. I put up sacred soil and feel totally bad ass when it mitigates the incoming tidal roar =P. Which leads to my reason for writing this post.
Before the fight starts I let the party know that if they see sacred soil up step in because most likely tidal roar is coming. After levi's ultimate attack i even make sure to write "soil" in party chat because tidal roar comes right after the body slam. This is the part of the fight team starts to get hit by 2 tidal roar waves in a row.
Yet i have DPS that refuse to step inside. i guess some just like taking tidal roars to the face -___-. It usually no biggie as a succor + medica II are casted right before tidal roar along with soil being up, but still. Theres been times were i have to spend a lustrate on a dps inbetween waves because they wont survive the next hit. Lustrate should only be used on tanks imo.
Fellow healers, what do yall do with uncooperative DPS who are taking unnecessary damage? I was contemplating not healing the individuals that dont listen but that would just cause unneeded stress to my WHM buddy. Its usually the BLM that do this.
am i just being super picky or do i have a legitimate reason to be annoyed by DPS that dont listen. You'd think they would listen to the healers since we choose who lives and who dies lol

It could be they haven't leveled a SCH or researched other classes and don't know what Sacred Soil does (I know, I know...but it's possible). If they willfully ignore the shining bubble of protection it's their loss I guess. In a farm party that's been doing fine and can live without a DPS for a bit you can try letting them die, but if it's a new group or one that struggles on each clear you'll just have to suck it up =/ Maybe put a giant red X over their head.

It's generally not a big deal if you pre-shield with succor and then succor again (plus WHM Medica), unless the double tidal roar comes right after spumes start popping, in which case it's their fault for not stepping inside the bubble if they die. On the flip side, using a lustrate on DPS shouldn't be a problem either, unless two or more of them are all being fails. I use energy drain half the time because I have nothing else to do with stacks.

I've found that a lot of people have all battle effects other than their own off, and they can't see SS at all. My friend tanks and when I heal for him, he NEVER stands in my SS and it bugs the hell out of me, but he just can't see it. For a BLM or maybe a MNK I can see ignoring it if they know they'll live. I can always toss out a simple Physick when there's not much damage, or my fairy will auto top them off. For BLMs movement is annoying as hell, and MNKs need to get back into the action before Grease Lightning falls off if they can. I try to make sure I keep them bubbled for stuff just in case. Same goes for dragoons actually, after finding out how they take more magic damage than normal.

BLM has to stop casting to move and will reduce their DPS. It's really not worth the effort because sacred soil is only 10%. The same applies for melee classes. A medica II alone is more than sufficient for a DPS in preparation for the next tidal wave and the range is usually far enough to hit the melee as well. Rather than sacred soil I would simply use whispering dawn or fey illumination (if needed, usually isn't). That aetherflow is stack is better used for lustrate to heal or energy drain/bane to do damage.
For obvious reasons the DPS classes shouldn't stack near the healers so having to move back and forth to receive sacred soil is really inconvenient. If you insist on using it, you could sacred soil the BLM and you yourself move to the BLM instead since scholars can heal very well while moving. Scholars have a lot of options in healing AoE damage and adjusting to how the group plays is a better approach than forcing others to do it your way.

Well, when people turn off the effects, they cant see it

Lustrates should be used on those who need them, obviously is someone is being stupid and taking lots of unnecessary damage tell them about it but otherwise.
-
Not really worth using Sacred Soil for Tidal Roar. Use it if you have stacks to spare (probably better off using Energy Drain though), but don't expect dps to run over and lose damage just so they can take 200 less damage from an AoE.

I never bother with soil outside of 2hrs, or if the group is full ranged for whatever reason and I can toss on on top of them during the tidal wave spam on second plume set.
Otherwise I'm just pretending I'm a DPS most of the fight, DoTing both head and tail. Spot Lustrate/Succors and the WHM handles the rest if people aren't being stupid. We've all overgeared the fight with soldiery/high-allagan gear, so if people are still dying with the large HP boost over i90, then they have other problems.

if both healers are decently skilled, even if you have one or two constantly failing DPS, you can still keep the group up without mana issue, the question is really how good you both are.
of course levi ex is relatively harder for dual sch imo, so whm performance is more critical here.
when you have to carry, you have to carry.. it's pug afterall and all you want is loot
