Seeking advice for a WHM on Lady of the Vortex.

A new member of our FC is currently playing a WHM and is stuck on Garuda. He claimed that he had been trying for almost a week but just couldn't get a good team together. Myself and two other FC members tried to help him; however we couldn't get it done because we weren't getting enough heals.

Basically we were dropping dead from Wicked Wheel and Friction. I explained to him that he was coming up short on the healing but he claimed that he was running out of MP. I checked his gear and for the most part it was commensurate with his level.

It seems like he's getting discouraged. I can only guess it must be a rotation thing. I'm sure it's a problem he can fix. I watched Mr. Happy's vid but it seems a little out of date and nothing jumped out at me as a fix to the problem. does anyone have any suggestions. Those who remember healing this fight, do you remember what worked for you?

There is no such thing as a rotation for a WHM. Is he trying to heal in Cleric Stance? If he is running out of mana, he should use Cure until he gets a Freecure proc, then use Cure II, unless there is huge spike damage. Medica will be needed, but shouldn't be spammed either. What cross skills does he have? I pop E4E on the tank, as well as Stoneskin before the first pull, then hit the tank with Regen and hit Garuda with virus whenever it is up. I try to keep the regen on the tank and any dps that are taking a bunch of damage. Every now and then I need to pop an ether of some sort. If there is a BRD in the party, Ballad works wonders.

Pretty much what Raeanya said: Stoneskin + Protect everyone -> Regen on tank -> Cure for freecure (lv32 trait) proc, don't waste MP with cure 2 unless someone is taking big damage -> Regen anyone that takes damage but not in immediate danger. Also pop Shroud of Saints whenever MP is getting kinda low, around 60% or 80% if they don't manage MP well. Bring a bard to help with MP problem. I don't think I heal this fight on white mage but it's generally the same idea. My fairy kinda solo heal when I went as Scholar though :/ so it's not at all heal intensive.
Wicked Wheel can hit hard but it's not gonna outright kill a player but that's why he should pop Regen on tank and melees. I can't remember if Friction still only targets healer like Garuda HM and EX but it might be a good idea to have him stay away from other people.

There are rotations lol,
You just don\\'t know em.
It varies from situation to situation but there are still standard rotations that can be followed.

If you like to dps: ( single target )
Divine seal + medica 2 -> regen -> swiftcast -> CS - stoneskin on tank -> aero 2 -> aero 1 -> stone 2 -> fluid aura -> aero 2 -> aero 1. Repeat
- can add e4e / virus whenever u feel like the tank might get hurt.
- do the rotation 2/3 times then pop shroud to regain some mp.

If you like to just heal: ( tank )
Divine seal + medica 2 -> regen -> cure 1 or stoneskin. If tank starts to drop below 60% hp. Then do:
Divine seal -> cure 1/2 till 80% -> swiftcast medica 2 + regen -> stoneskin-> shroud.

Just keep HoTs up, your mp up and the party\\'s hp up ad everybody will have a good time.

It's a general idea of how to heal but like you said there really isn't a " the perfect and only 1"rotation.

The problem with the rotations that you list is that it can result in a ton of overheal/wasted mp/uneccesary aggro if you don't know the fight or situation. Healing as a WHM is very reactive, and while there are ways to be proactive, most involve knowing what is coming and who will likely be hit by it. Yes, if you are about to do some dps, you want to get your 'skins, eye, and regen/med2 up before you pop cs to add some dots, but for someone who is still learning the fight, or their skills and how/when to use them/ or getting comfortable dancing it can be dangerous to try to list rotations. They just need to treat these lists as guidelines, and know that heals comes first, so they need to be prepared to stop whatever they are doing to throw a spell to save a life. And I wouldnt use Fluid Aura in a dungeon without communicating with the tank first. Sure the bind can be useful, but I know that the knockback can cause issues.

I remember when I roulette this as whm, some PTs really made me close to OOO.
As an easy resolution, take a BRD for him ^^;

Is there echo on garuda story mode now? I don't think there is. And how's the tank's gear? That obviously comes into play and doesn't seem to have been asked unless I missed it. A lvl 44 tank will be substantially squishier than a 45 tank in AF gear.

no echo. and usually there will be first timer(s)... ^^;

If you're talking about the lvl44 garuda fight, keep regen up and use shroud of saints when your mp is still at 75%.

Heal using Cure 1 until free cure procs. Avoid spamming stoneskin as a form of cure or you will run out of mp (I used to do that when I started out, and I kept running out of mp).
