Creating a new alt, need ideas

Hey guys, I am thinking of creating an alt. I want to only level up 1 class and be active in end game in the job of that class.

I also dont want to spend time levelling 'sub-jobs'

So which is the job that is still effective on its own class?

Doesn't matter which job you play, to be the most effective you need to get all the Cross-Class abilities.

MNK and BRD need LNC at 34 for Blood for Blood and Invigorate (both of which are pretty non-negotiable, as they are DPS increases; can't DPS at 0 TP after all)
PLD, MNK and DRG need MRD at 26 for Mercy Stroke and Bloodbath (debatable for the DPS, but still useful)
DRG, BRD and WAR need PGL at 42 for Mantra (its still a healing boost that can save the raid, and can be really helpful on WAR), Featherfoot, Second Wind and Internal Release
SMN, SCH and WHM need THM at 26 for Swiftcast (one of the pretty much necessary cross-class skills)
WHM and BLM need ACN at 34 for Virus and Eye for an Eye (with enough casters, you can set up an E4E rotation to grant an almost constant 10% damage reduction on most bosses)
PLD and SCH need CNJ at 34 for Stoneskin and Protect
WAR needs GLA at 22 for Provoke (if you do not get Provoke you are a bad tank. Period. Provoke is 100% necessary. I don't personally use Awareness at all, even on PLD; not sure if its still bugged or not...) and Flash
SMN and BLM need ARC at 34 for Raging Strikes and Quelling Strikes (Quelling not as much for SMN, but there are places a SMN can use it effectively. Almost non-negotiable for BLM, however)


The "easiest" way out is going WAR and ignoring Mantra...but then you're tanking, and you have to deal with being a tank; similar thing for PLD.
Casters/Heals look easy, I'll skip Stoneskin/E4E and just get Swiftcast...except THM is rDPS and takes forever to level...
SMN, skip Quelling? Wait, SMN IS an rDPS, so to find a group after you eventually get to 50 you have to be at the top of the game, which means you probably need Quelling...and there's THM again...
OK, DRG, skipping Mantra...and dead on the floor again...suddenly no one wants to group with me anymore...

Pretty much, regardless of what job you choose, you're in for a bumpy ride...

I trust you mean aside the obligatory lv15 sub-class level to unlock said job?

On my personal experience, I found the job with the most pointless cross-class skills options to be BLM. I have all classes leveled, but felt it in me to set up only Raging Strikes (which is obtained by the obligatory lv15 ARC to unlock BLM job) and Quelling Strikes, which I never had to use as I do keep attention to my enmity and work to not get aggro. I put Physicks and Virus from Arcanist, but I never get to use them.

I suppose a close second could be White Mage, but you may get yelled at for not having Swiftcast for Raise, so yeah, I want to say BLM is probably the most cross-class free job you can go with.

Warrior and black mage have the least amount of secondary leveling. Everything else requires a third class for specific cross skill to be 100% effective at endgame.
