Old player of MMORPG, New to FFIXV

Hello,

As explained in the title I'm new to final fantasy, but I have played many other games similar, the closest one being World of Warcraft, everything seems to be the same just in different words/style.

My actual question is, I started playing with a friend he choose to go a different race and class to me, me being pugilist and a Hyur midlander and him being a cat type race, anyway, I'm at level 15 I have just been given my airship ticket and I can know goto him and have fun, but I cannot quest with him? I'm a little bit ahead and I'm on the first dungeon quest, I have not yet entered as I am waiting for him. So does my quest line link in with his at any point or am I going to have to solo level upto 50?

Oh I forgot to mention he's a conjurer

After level 15, all city main questline will lead you to Sastasha which is the first dungeon. After that, they all merge into 1 quest line so yes, you can quest with your friend.

Just a question what server are you on?

As per what Cajunflyboy asked, to get your character details to show beside your post, click on where it says 'Settings' at the top right corner of the page (under your name and next to the blue 'Logout' button). Then on the left of the page under 'My Settings', click 'Edit Character', and select your character from the list, and choose which class you want to display (bare in mind this choice affects your posting limits - the higher the level for your class, then the less restrictions you have.)

After making your choice, click 'Save Changes' and from now on, your character portrait and details will show beside your posts here on the forum. :) Doing this is helpful for other players when you're asking for help on the forum. :)

The point you're at now, and from there on, the storylines are merged into one. So yes, you'll have the same quests and can do them together. Your friend just needs to catch up with you. When he reaches the point in the story that sends him to that first dungeon, you can both do it together.

Every five levels, you'll each want to go to your respective class guilds to pick up a class quest, and there are a few quests within the main storyline that need to be done solo (or where the instanced portion needs to be solo), so you won't always be together. But there are also sections that need to be done with a group, and a lot that can be done either solo or grouped as you choose.
