I was thinking of a new healer class
Alchemist!
Make it a battle class
Have it heal through making potions, elixirs, mega potions, Phoenix downs, etc etc. It would be new and exciting. Craft potions to use on party members, yeah it could be tough if the alchemist isn't prepared but it would be fun and challenging.
Let me hear your thoughts.
who would pay all the consumables? the alchemist himself? not very fair

Maybe the gun class could fire these healing items like bullets to their target ?
I honestly don't see why Ninja couldn't have an alt healing class. If they have Offensive ninjutsu, they could easily be given healing ninjutsu.
It's kind of off the rails as far as Final Fantasy lore goes, But they already did a rewrite for the Scholar, and could do the same here. I have no idea what the class would be called though.
It's unlikely for a chemist class to emerge unless those "potions" and "panacea" they use for heals are turned in to actual skills independent of items. Yoshida himself said in the E3 video that Ninjas would never have throwing weapons like shuriken (despite them traditionally using the "THROW" skill). Maintaining the items in your inventory is an additional cost the developers don't want to force on the players.
There's a possibility for a healing job for the rogue, but it is also the most likely to become an evade tank. I doubt there will be a healing ninjutsu though as it does break from the lore and may step on some IP issues in Japan. I would personally like a dancer with the healer role, but I'd honestly be fine with whatever.
That’s absolutely crazy. Do you know how expensive it would be to keep a well-stocked inventory of healing items with you at all times? For new players, money is already something that is hard to come by. If their entire job revolves around using in game items to play their role properly, then they wouldn’t be able to progress when they run out of money.
About 50-100 heals are thrown in a typical dungeon run. Say a potion costs about 50 gil to acquire.
50 X 100 = 5000 gil per run
Have fun...
Time Mage: bring back time and restore allies wound.
As well as.. haste, slow, gravity (damage) etc..
We need a healer who can manipulate dimention and time ;)
I will not here you out... Frankly, because I have no idea what that means... Hearing you out is another matter. Alchemist is a disciple of the hand, and as such, will not be a battle class. Chemist could be a fun job, but i agree that one's 'potions' will need to be independent from inventory. It wouldn't make much sense or be a very practical implementation otherwise. Maybe tp based heals? What of pros/cons? Balancing?
Personally, I can't really see how this would work.
They could make it like FFX-2's alchemist. She uses potions "tucked away" for basic healing.
