Not so far, sadly its hologram technology only allows your head to be projected on the table.

Don't forget swords > guns

I was holding out on coil because I wanted to play a Final Fantasy game, not Final Sci-Fi. In the end, it turned out to be another MMO.

Wait, wait...Using Science to control ancient magic is something that has been in a good chunk of Final Fantasy games, so why should it be any surprise here?

It's an extremely common theme in jRPGs that Ancient Technology is ALWAYS better then modern. To name a few examples: in Chrono Trigger the Zeal Kingdom had more advanced technology. Final Fantasy 5 had ancient Airships and fortresses that were more advanced, Final Fantasy 4 and the Lunar Whale that brought you to the moon.
Final Fantasy 14 is no exception
