First impressions about NIN
So far I'm unimpressed, it feels like rehashed MNK with combo system instead greased lighning.
My initial impressions:
- increased movement speed is already available for MNK (self buff) and BRD (party buff), nothing special here. Just give every job an out of combad movement speed buff maybe?
- decreased damage from falling is useless and will take up trait slot for potentially useful trait (like, give us increased crit rate, crit damage - something that helps in playing the job, aka DPS trait...)
- combo system (ability1+ability2->explosion1) is potentially easier to play than MNK, it might be good baseline for choosing either sustained or burst damage by using different combos depending on situation
- positional requirements differing from enemy and enemy might end up with hectic button mashing, as in flank->rear->flank->rear->front->rear, but we'll have to wait and see how rigid and strict they are
- the game doesn't need another DPS class, at least developers admitted realising that already, yet here we have another DPS... This feels to me like rushed contend without deeper value. It's much easier to clone a DPS job that design a new playstyle for tank (evasion tank? pet tank? debuff tank?) or healer (AoE healer? buff healer? DoT healer?)
- another close range melee getting 1 shotted by aoe right and left. If you want to shove another DPS at us, give him crossbows/shurikens as means of doing damage. A party (light or full) needs only 1 melee for limit break purposes, anything more than that is dead weight.
