Yoshi-P E3 2014 Interview about Ninja/Rogue

Keynotes of the interview:

- Rogue is basically like the Thief class in the series
- Rogue's combat pace won't be faster than other classes
- Yoshida tended to describe Ninja as a unique class instead of a difficult class
- The introduction of Rogue and Ninja is to coordinate with the implement of new PVP content in 2.3 and 2.4
- They did consider to bring in the Musketeer class
- Yoshida wanted players to image how the Ramuh and Shiva battles would look like
- Yoshida felt players' temporal departure was a natural thing

Yoshida said having limited content to where players are forced to play another game will encourage them to continue to play XIV longer.....

That statement almost seems like a complete disconnect from reality, as it is the main reason ppl leave mmos for other ones.

It's bit ambiguous, I believe that 2.3 is coming soon after E3.

Its so hard to balance it.
#1 Its too easy, and people rush and have nothing to do = Quit.
#2 Its too hard, people do it for a while but say screw it = Do something else or potentially Quit

I personally would say #1 is the worse of the two just because if nothing at all to do there is no point paying for a subscription.

Ontopic: It sounds like Musketeer might not even be coming for 2.4.

I'm honestly starting to wonder if we'll ever get it at all. The recent aethernet change from Coral Tower to Marauder's Guild was sort of a giant slap in the face for those of us waiting for MSK.

Taking time off from one thing to go do something else for a little bit does help to avoid burnout.

Whether that's something that should be incorporated into game design or not is a topic I'll not touch with a 10ft pole.

Theoretically it is easy to balance it. Make one easy way to play and one hard way to play. Everyone gets what they want, and can play exactly as much as they want.

In reality people are stupid. Even if they love hard content, they will pick easy content just because they tell themselves that not having the best items on the server means you've lost. (Alternatively be cheap and want to finish fast to cancel subscription a few months)
