I am wondering if there is any information out there for best equipment, stat caps on that equipment, and optimum melding methods for DoL jobs similar to this player's post for DoH jobs. The first post in this thread is useful, but it seems incomplete and does not list the best equipment available, nor the optimum materia melding methods. Also, from what I understand, botany/mining are somewhat different to fishing. Thanks! :)
"Best" is essentially hitting all the stat caps, which is possible for Miner and Botanist with the exception of the off hand item. FFXIVGuild has a page dedicated to this and it seems accurate. I've been using it, though I haven't melded everything just yet. Still, you can get to 408 gathering and more than enough perception without too much overmelding, though the extra GP will usually come in handy. It may also be worth noting that as of right now (on Behemoth at least) the only worthwhile item that a miner can gather that requires HQ gear with lots of materia is umbral rock (HQ) used for getting better gear, which in turn is used in theory to gather rarer things, but those rarer things are in such low demand that you'd do better farming shards.
I have said this before.
Fishers have no use for gathering points. Therefore they can wear I70 battle accessories which can take +5 Gathering and Perception.
Miners and botanists should learn to laugh at overmelding failures. Its a 14% or 8% percent chance, why does my character look so devastated on the misses?
Its really funny to me. Which is a good thing.
