Stealth

Hello,

Noob here, just got the game a few days ago. Probably the best WoW-based MMORPG I've played; I think I might jump ship from SWTOR. (I realize that the expression "WoW-based MMORPG" has been redundant since 2004)

Anyway, I had a question about stealth I couldn't find an answer to. The various wiki's just repost the game's descriptions of Disciples of Lands' stealth powers with zero context... but how valuable is stealth from a combat perspective? Is it useful to stealth a dungeon, stopping only at required fights or checkpoints, switching out to your war or mage gear when needed? Does it have a role in PvP? Or is it a pointless mechanic, and I should stop leveling up botanist just for stealth?

You cant do stealth in a dungeon, each stealth skill is only usable by the gathering class that gains it. The only Gathering skills you can use on a battle class are the ones that tell you where gathering nodes are.

Right, but can you stealth past baddies as a botanist, then switch back to a conjurer/gladiator/etc to fight the boss? Just want to know before I sink a lot of hours leveling botanist :)

Nope, you can't switch classes at all when in a dungeon.

You cannot switch Jobs in the middle of a dungeon, so that's not really an option.

As said above, plus, you cant even enter a dungeon as a non-battle class.

It helps a little when you leveling other battle classes as some quest would send you to / through enemy strongholds for some quests but it's hardly worth leveling any of the DoL just because of that.

stealth isnt all that when doing quest either. the fact it cuts your movement in half will get you annoyed when trying to traverse areas while in stealth.

Not in dungeons. You can during open landscape questing, and occasionally it can be useful for that.

I've done a few quests where I can handle a single enemy but not multiples, and I'll switch to miner or botanist while I get past the groups and position myself where I'll be able to pull a single mob at a time. But not only is movement slow while stealth, but when you switch back to your combat class, you have to wait for all your skills to come off cooldown. Since this is only useful when the mobs are at the limit of what you can handle, you may be in trouble if one aggros you while all your skills are still disabled for the switching-class-cooldown.
