To Swipe or not to Swipe
I started having a harder time keeping aggro. Was doing a run when one of the players told me to use my aggro attacks more often. When I looked at what I was doing I had added swipe into my main attack macro and the skill was available so often that started to take over on my rotation. I have taken it out since then and things have gotten better. My question to other Paladins is do you use shield swipe and if you do how do you put it into your rotation?

On Gladiator/Paladin you're going to want to initiate with a Flash (good instant hate for inept tanks) then move onto your Fast Blade > Savage Blade > Rage of Halone combo and do that multiple times. Flash every now and again if you have multiple mobs depending how much your healer is healing and also switch targets every few hits to keep hate on everything efficiently. Marking mobs 1-5 in order can also help direct your DPS to focus on enemies you're focusing on so you are less likely to drop hate.
Only use Riot Blade if you're low MP and use Shield Swipe if you're high on hate for higher damage but lower enmity. Shield Bash you should only use as in interrupt attack.

No trick to it, use it on cooldown if you have good threat lead. If you can't spare the threat then don't use it. If RoH debuff is not applied (or will fall off before a next big hit) then don't use it.

Shield Swipe serves two basic purposes. One, it's good damage; two, it lets you regen TP. For a tank, the damage is just a nice bonus, so the TP is what you should be looking at. If you know you'll need TP by the end of the fight, go ahead and use it (and Flash). Otherwise, you might get some use out of the pacify effect, but I wouldn't expect much.

That is what I started to suspect. I was using it as a Macro and it was taking over. Not noticable at first but after having the skill a few lvl's it kept proc'ing more and more. Use it as stand alone and only if aggro allows for it.
My Macro was Mercy Stroke > Shield Swipe > Fast Blade.

if I'm single targeting, ill shield lob, then ROH, then spirits, then ROH combo. i don't really see the point in flashing unless there are multiple targets. ROH uncombod is more enmity than flash.
shield swipe, i only use when i am low on tp. the potency is decent, i just don't like that theres no enmity booster on it, so if i have a lot of tp i don't tend to use it. if it was off GCD it would be a much better skill. I think warriors IB should be off GCD as well, maybe even flash but that might be pushing it. shield bash should be off gcd too. the amount of tp it costs would deter people from using it excessively for dps gains

you have to look at the agro meter in the party list. if you well ahead of w/e 2nd in agro then you can use shield swipe, if not keep RoHing

Multiple mobs: flash three times. Then start your 1,2,3. Flash again etc.. At some point you'll need riot blade for mp if the pack takes longer to down than you have mp for.
Unfortunately PLDs have a rather boring multi target enmity play style but flash spam (with FoF) is god mode.

I did the same, had it macroed first which didn't work. Recently though I accidentally did ex roulette with pali instead of war and got lost city. We had a super weak party and I've been trying to get better so I switched to sword oath. Tbh heals was a straight beast, but shield swipe helped a lot. After I got aggro I was sw everything, you can get two inside of combo I think. The damage still came in so I'm unsure what the pacification got but I was doing decent pulls after I switched to sword and it helped.

I really only tend to use shield swipe on things where I either feel the need to conserve TP somewhat (i.e. long fights) or mobs with annoying aoe's that Pacification can prevent for a short time.
