Something Needs to Change (Atma)

Everywhere you look on the forums, your going to see a thread about people saying how ridiculous obtaining an Atma weapon is, and that's because it is ridiculous!

Now I've only spent 5 hours grinding for my Atma crystal and have yet to even get one. NOT EVEN ONE. Now lets add up the other 11 I need, plus the other jobs and we already have half our lives to simply get the second upgrade on our relic weapon. This is a broken system. There is no consistency.

To say a system that is built on luck is fine and rewards those for hardwork and is fine would be stupid, but Square Enix said it! As a player, I want to enjoy this game but it's getting hard. I have a job, friends, and family I have to attend too. I can't spend my life grinding up and down every corner of Eorzea to simply get the SECOND upgrade for my relic weapon.

Fix it Square Enix, you know it's broken.

Sorry but it won't get a increase in drop rate for quite sometime maybe 2.4-2.5 maybe. 5 hrs of farming is nothing maybe you have bad luck like me at atmas 110 hrs since it was released and that's with capping sol (maybe 20 hrs of farming a week for atma) and I'm stuck at 3. I have since then taken a break and will get back to it in time. Just find something to keep yourself from going insane and don't make it your sole priority. Try other things in the game and do it in increments if you half to but the more you dwell on it the more the RNG gods will be like nope.

A system that you could potentially spend months farming to get one drop is broken. There is no dedication or hardwork running level 10 FATES in i90 gear.

Ever tried getting a relic in 1.0 or in ff 11 that was 10000x harder then this while yes the drop rate sucks a lot no one is forcing you to get it a lot of ppl like this style, myself while I like having to put more effort forth I just hate fates. If it was kill 1 million mobs for 1 piece I would like it better just cause of my hate for fates. Just stick with it you will get it in time or never just depends on the RNG gods.
And even after you get your atma getting to animus just as tedious cause you will have 3 specific fates to camp per book which is the only horrid part of the atma books
Then can't forget the alexandrite after that which will take you quite sometime to get novis
And yet the t9 wep is still better lol

I know how you feel as I felt the same when I first started my first set of atma....... but then I tried a different tactic....

Do fates in 1 area for no more than 30 mins (fyi, you dont have to be there for the whole fate or be there at the end of it to get an atma drop), and if I didnt get any drop in that 30 mins I would move on to the next area.

Needless to say I thought my luck had changed as I managed to get my first full set of atma in just over 10hrs of gameplay (I did 4hrs first day and 4hrs 2nd day and 2hrs 3rd day). I didn't count how many fates I participated in, but this tactic worked for me and many other player friends I know who now do the same. It's not a guarantee in anyway, but for some reason you seem to get a better drop chance rate within the first 30 mins of being in a zone. Just rinse and repeat until you're on your last atma.

I can only suggest you give this a try and you never know.

5 hours isn't too bad. My first took about 8 hours and 1 took around double that. But I also received my 2nd in 2 FATEs (after getting my first), my 4th in 3 FATEs (after having a break for a few days after getting my 3rd) and my 5th last night in the first FATE I took part in while waiting for CT.
I haven't bothered much with Atma, I now have 5 in around the 4 weeks since getting Stardust Rod Zenith. I just do FATEs if I'm in the area and waiting for DF, or if I have nothing else to do.
Don't expect the drop rate to be increased any time soon. If they increased the drop rate now, everyone who grinded ages for Atma would've wasted their time. Maybe in a few more patches, but for now we're stuck with it as it is.

Fates themselves just suck ass.
It just sucks to be running around a giant zone from one side to another just to arrive for a fate that is at 90% and as a MNK I can't even tag monsters properly due to the lack of AOE and being Melee(But that is normal, not bitching about it... It's just really irritating), I started the grind yesterday, 100+ fates done only 1 atma obtained, I feel lucky but I don't like what's coming ahead.

A better idea would've been to make the ATMA drop at the end of the leveling dungeons. That would've made the grind less boring and all the level 50s would actually be helping the lower level players progress. Instead of having gear/weapons drop at the boss, if you have your Relic Zenith equipped you have a chance at the ATMA drop. If they were going to recycle content those lower level dungeons would've been better than FATEs. I know theres low level roulette. But I think we are all tired of getting Haukke Manor on roulette. Or am I the only that happens to?

None of us ask for the relic upgrade to be handed to us. We dont mind a grind. What we do mind is a boring grind. Im hoping Yoshi announces a change today at E3. Stayed tuned and cross your fingers

I wish the alexandrites would have atma drop rate

I wouldnt have a prob with farming 75 more atmas, but alexs are way rarer and thats what really sucks
