Higher Level Enemies in Eorzea

I would truly like to see this game have higher leveled monsters than you running around out in the open field that can kill you easily if you are not paying attention. I know that this was the case in XIV 1.0, so I'm curious to the reason that there are no monsters running around at level 60 or 70 as of yet.

May just be me, but to see higher level monsters around would give Eorzea a much better feeling of... I don't know, danger? Excitement? Like you actually have to be careful where you go instead of auto-running through everywhere and getting barely a scratch when mobs aggro you. It honestly sounds like FUN to me!

I know that there are plan to implement a very hard encounter in patch 2.3, but why not include some very tough roaming monsters as well? Ones that even with i90/i100 gear would still be difficult to take down for a 4 or 8 person party.

Just something I'd like to see sometime. Not like there has to be a huge monster for every region, but a really strong one in Mor Dhona or Coerthas would be wonderful!

I agree with you, but with today's players one of two scenarios will happen.

1. if it drops gear, it will be spawn camped indefinitely and never pose a real threat

2. If it doesn't drop gear people will just complain that its an annoyance to avoid, and they will eventually be nerfed.

Personally I would enjoy the crap out of it, but other players would more than likely ruin it.

Depends. If say I the beast quest monsters were hard to kill I would have issue. I wouldnt mind if there was an area where high level monsters roamed with quests that focus on them.

I don't mean for them to be a part of a quest at all. Just random high level monsters that can wipe you if you get to close and are not prepared. I just feel like walking through Eorzea is like walking through a field of daisies with little critters sometimes. Not exactly "fun" to go exploring when every monster you see, minus some Fates which don't count, can be soloed.

Mm well that would be fun, but even then if you do it right you still could run by them lol. I know even at max I still dodge around monsters because I am usually trying to do something. So I wouldnt be against it if it didnt interfere with any important quests but it would be cool if they had quests for stronger monsters.

When they did this before, most of the areas with the super high leveled mobs were generally just ignored and avoided outright. Sure some people would go over and press their luck but the majority wanted nothing to do with it. FFXI had this before too, though not so much these days. The areas in the zones with the higher than usual levels were simply not explored.

That said, do not be surprised if they do something like this for this upcoming Sightseeing Log, since you have to do an emote to finish some of them apparently. "Brave a dangerous area to discover a stunning vista!"
