I'm surprised they haven't considering they already have the game running on OpenGL for PS4.
They Probably just don't see it as economically viable for the long term.
Yes, please.
There have already been numerous threads on the matter and currently there are no solid plans to bring FFXIV to OSX or Linux.
This would be a pretty large project to undertake. Recoding the client to work with Cocoa on OSX as well as porting the PCs rendering system to the OSX OpenGL library would take a hell of a long time.
There would have to be a massive demand. For now parallel desktop or bootcamp will have to do.
Also the community team have mentioned several times that you don't need to put "To the devs" in the title. They read /everything/ that is posted. No matter how benign it may be.
You're the first person to actually mention it in that manner.
Congratulations on inflating the topic needlessly.
Please don't. PC elitists are already 'elite' enough as is, I don't really want to see the general chat erupting into a PC vs. MAC War when someone says
"Unless you're on PS3"
"I'm on a Mac!"
"loljustamac"
<argueemnt>
I don't own a Mac, but I still support this.
Has anyone tried WineHQ or what the program is called? I know it worked for FFXI, so might work...Quote:

MACs are only good for one thing, being overpriced systems. You can build a decent gaming PC for less then the average MAC will cost you, and it will run circles around the mac. And considering that mac is large minority, there really is no reason to spend all the money reencoding the game to work on MAC.
If you were wanting to do some animation work or whatever, then that MAC is fine. If you're wanting to game, then why did you waste money on a MAC?
Eh. I think everyone has their own preferences. If folks prefer a mac, let 'em use a mac. I don't like using Macs because from Age 12 onwards, I always had this preference for PCs (before that, I was using Apple II and Mac OS 6 on my School computers). But that's all it really is at the end of the day. Preference.
