If i wanted to enquire about possible raid positions on servers where would i post?

Best place for that is the Server section of the forums Click Here. From there you can either check your own server to see if there are any threads started that fit your needs, post your own with your information, or browse other server forums.
You'd probably want to go here:
http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/forums/666-Community
and then pick your server out of the list go that heading and make a new thread.
Then make sure your new thread says what you are and what you want. Like "WHM looking for turn 6-8 experienced static".
At least, that's what I did this morning, I'm in a similar boat.
