20% Free Esuna

Hey all,

Esuna has a 20% chance to be free the next cast. I've completely forgotten that this occurs, since there is no buff for it like Freecure, or Overcure.

Is there a way to see when this procs? Or do you just have to say, "Oh hey, that one was free.".

Does anyone know how long the free Esuna persists? Freecure and Overcure are only like 15 seconds.

I haven't noticed anything in the battle log when this procs, I only have to watch my MP and see that it didn't move down any.

Kinda irritating, mainly in the break of consistency since both Free and Overcure net you buffs and the yellow dotted "combo line" around the ability.

I didn't know for the longest time that Esuna even had a secondary effect because it didn't have a buff or dotted line.

I'm not sure if it's entirely needed though, because most debuffs are "get rid of this ASAP or else" issues, so whether or not Esuna costs MP has no factor in your decision to use it.

Well, the my thing is, I don't normally Esuna berserk because I can drop a Regen or a Cure somewhere or even DPS some, but if the Esuna is free... I'd try and time it right.

Lol, I had completely forgotten this existed, too. I only noticed it initially when cleansing some unfortunate peeps of the gorillion debuffs that they get from Rotten Breath (of the Morbol type enemies!), when I was newer to the game. It's pretty darn unnecessary as you rarely ever cast back to back Esunas. The only endgame instance I can think of would be King Mog EX.

It doesn't make a bit of difference though if you don't know when it procs (thereby changing whether or not you would use it). "I used it before, so there's one-fifth chance this next one will be free!" doesn't really fly when comparing the value of esuna'ing a DoT and just putting a Regen over it for twice the DoT's total damage.

Free Esuna doesn't work. The lack of buff and dotted lines is not just a clever plan on the devs' side, Esuna doesn't trigger anything. I've never seen that thing proc, nor have I ever seen myself casting a free esuna

I just had to try it.
It doens't show any procs, but it DOES give you a FREE cast of esuna, when you get the "proc_that_doesn't_show_that_it_proced".

So you can confirm that there are times where your MP doesn't decrease when you cast an Esuna?
