Question Regarding Black Mages

So, this week I took into account some tips and really pushed my DPS. Did 335 on T6 and 362 on T8. I'm not even going to start on T7. Anyway, I hear people saying that +1 WD equals + 15 overall DPS. However, this doesn't feel like it when playing Black Mage.
I would say that the +3 (from LVL 100 to 110) has given me about 10-15 extra DPS.
First of all, I don't know if it's true that for other classes +1 WD equals 15 extra DPS.

The only reason I can think of as to why BLM does not benefit as much is the following.
Let's say that +1 WD equals + 20 raw damage (hypothetically). BLM has slow casting times in comparison to let's say a Monk. That's why a MNK would build up way more damage over time seeing that the nature of their attacks is fast paced (also auto attacks).
The BLM has slow casting times and therefore not benefitting as much.

These are just some thoughts, I'm not entirely sure if it's true at all. Is the extra WD not adjusted to the speed of doing skills?

We do have slow casting times, true. But you also have to consider potency, and how it scales with weapon damage. One of the monk's highest hitters is Bootshine, at 150 potency, auto-crit behind (x1.5 damage). Now, let's give their bufffs. Twin Snakes is 10%, 3GL is 27%, Dragon Kick is x1.11 (90% resist). So 150 x 1.37 (potency multiplier) * 1.5 (crit) * 1.11 (resist) is 372.1575. The highest hitters for BLM are Flare, which isn't used too overly often, and Fire 3. At 220 and 260 potency each. Now, our buffs. Astral Fire 3, is about a 80% increase, so 220 x 1.8 = 396 and 260 * 1.8 = 468. So while the monk has a lot of rapid attacks, they're also of a much lower base. I know Puro has done some math on it, I simply can't recall it off hand, as to how WD actually scales with the above potency amounts.

I believe Puro his conclusion was that +1 WD is about +4DPS. Something still doesn't quite seem right. I swear that to other classes their +1 is much more noticable. But that might only have been an impression. Would be great if someone could make a sheet on this topic to see if it's evenly scaled. What you say is absolutely true though, but for some reason, something seems off.

I don't believe 1 WD = 15 overall DPS.

1WD = 5 DPS maybe, its depends rotation and RNG

Seems that Puro has updated his sheet. Yes, I think that 1WD= 5 more DPS is a lot more plausible! It was just weird that the Bard, DRG and MNK claimed that is it much higher. They probably have it on the wrong end.

They just lie, don't believe it too much, the best is find it out yourself, you got new stuffs, you go test it and you collect data then compare : )

Would you mind sharing your DPS numbers from T7 as well as those tips that helped you increase your overall DPS on those turns? Thanks ;)

Every blm that has low dps that I know of has issues with moving and casting as well as optimizing their own casts patterns while dpsing. The key is simply planning ahead of time. I'll give an example - on Titan Ex theres a double plume set, if you're spamming your fire spells and get a proc say... 5 seconds or so before those (decent odds) then simply hold the proc and throw while you are forced into moving, this helps push your own dps as you never flat line your own dps on the move. Now, I'm not saying to hold a proc normally, as in most cases you should let them fly. Something else cool about those double plumes is that you can squeeze in a blizzard 3 during AF3 mid plume sets and still dodge. So dodge - Blizz 3 -> dodge if you happen to be ready to transition into ice mode.

Some BLMs stutter their rotations for little reason, for instance, casting Blizzard 1 too late while waiting for your bar to fill (use scathe here instead) if you cast it too late then you'll gimp your own bar costing you a thunder 2 (if moonkeeper or dunesfolk). Scathes mp cost is instant and blizz is not... that's the difference. Don't be afraid to scathe on the move, seriously better than nothing.

Theres a lot of small things that add up to big things, theres several other little things besides here.

Yea what was it that you did differently on those turns?

Nothing much to be honest. I stopped with pressing the Fire III button after my Fire I cast. I had more control over my MP management (getting skills in between) and just played better overall. I have been pracitising quite a bit and what can I say? I got better.
I bet if I double flare those dreadnoughts on T8 I'll be able to push even more.
