New to PVP and have a Meta Question

So I know everyone that sees this will probably grumble but as it stands, I played WoW a lot and so I understand how the arena META works there so I wanted to ask what are the top team compositions that have evolved to be the best ones? Is there a single composition that is the best are there 3-4 that all kind of have a rock paper scissors thing going on? I.E. Comp A beats Comp B but Comp B beats Comp C and Comp C beats Comp A, or something of that nature? Or does it really just come down to who outplays the other?

Right now I've been playing MRD at the lvl 40 ones but it has come to my attention that in order to be the best MRD I should probably have attribute points in STR and as I raid on WAR I obviously can't have both with that class so I probably need to pick another class to run with.

Technically gear/ skills heavily outweighs team comp.
There was a meta back then ,
2 smns, 2 blm , mix of both etc
Then ppl wanted nerf
Cuz double smn was to good
Double swiftcast raises + disease
( slowing target's movement too)
So SE implemented the 1 melee & 1 ranged dps rule.
Double blm was also rediculous because of the non stop sleeping aoes.
So SE changed up the sleep and added dim returns & resistance.
But imo i think a meta will be viable in frontlines as we will get to double roles thus allowing to go in a same role
I.e 2 ranged = 2 smn
2 melee = 2 drgn
2 tanks = 2 mrds
2 healers = 2 sch or 2 whm
Or both
Imo having 2 smns & 2 schs would be so broken cuz there will be 4 more "party members" on the team.
Both teams do 2 smns & 2 schs
It'll just end up as modern pet warfare 4.
SE will probably fix it if ppl find it cheap.

I guess what I'm getting at is, is there a team composition that beats all others or does it really come down to skill? I'm probably not going to vie for a top spot on the leader boards but I don't like setting myself up for a loss from the get go by playing a class that it just inferior to another.

IMO. The bar comp is sch, pld, smn, and mnk.

Scholar cause eos is another healer, smn cause op as shit, pally cause the stun lock, and mnk cause greased lightning stacks

Can't say I've beaten many comps like that

I've been hearing from almost everyone that MRD is the best tank for PVP, why do you say that is not the case?

They're just saying that because MRD can be the third DD. But there's no way 3DD's can deal damage faster than a healer can heal himself.
On the other hand, if you have shield bash, you have 10secs to kill the healer and the healer can't move at all. A decent melee DD usually can kill a healer within that timeframe.

Another thing is that on lvl40 and above, there are times that the healer is no longer the primary target, but the range DD, because they're squishy. If you notice that the strategy of your opponent, that's the time cover and testudo would be helpful.

I usaully say to non i70/90/100 smns and blms " r.i.p smn/ blm "

Also honestly super high dps means nothing if:
1) you are super squishy and can\\'t even take a CC or slow.
2) you have low morale = low def & attk
3) you don\\'t have any/ some pvp skills
* mosty apply\\'s to 50 Q
but still stack vit cuz when they know you are the squishiest they\\'ll zerg you 1st.

I like mrds because they tend to stoneskin me more often than glds in 30/40
Also i noticed they burst me down faster than plds.

If there had to be a tank hierarchy it would probably look something like MRD > PLD > WAR > GLD. MRD's cross class mixed with it's base skills really outshines everything else due to the ridiculous amount of burst it can do. PLD is a good tank, has good utility due to cover and Testudo and a pretty great burst as well with 2 extra skills off GCD compared to MRD but in such a small fast competition as wolves den it's really a DPS race which means MRD will usually outshine PLD due to the ridiculous amount of attack buffs they can all stack at once without anyone being able to reliably debuff them in this game as of now.

I disagree with this. It's not a DPS race on who can deal more damage faster. It's a DPS race on who can kill the healer first. And I don't think that there's any DPS skill that can kill a healer faster than Shield Bash.

Shield Bash > Everyone
