Parley Critique
Please adjust the difficulty of parley. I enjoy the idea of parley, it adds a somewhat unique activity to the game. The only other place i have seen something similar would be in elder scrolls oblivion. That being said, there are too many 1 star parleys within the game.
I was thinking along the lines of rank 36 parleys should be 5 star, rank 30 should be 3 star, and rank 20 would be 1 star. Having rank 36 parley's be 1 star difficulty is silly. If anything, i believe 1 star parleys at rank 36 take away from the game.
Also, please have failure of parley place a detrimental effect on the rewards gained. If you fail parleys, for example, you could reduce the number of guild marks garnered from completion of the quest.
And finally, when do we plan on adding abilities to parley? There is an ability button, but unless i am missing something, it has no function.

I hate Parley!
All the Main Scenario missions I did were 5 stars.
I suck at it. D:

I just flat out hate parley, I'm sorry. I can't think of a single redeeming quality that would make me want to keep it in the game. There are much better ways to implement puzzle minigames, like the Bioshock hacking minigame or the lockpicking minigames that some games have. Parley just feels cheap and lazy. I apologize for being so harsh about it but it shows a serious lack of design effort in my opinion.

Parley is just a relic from an earlier vision of the game that has been left to gather dust for the same reason cake building was never implemented.
With any luck, something better like Tetra Master will take it's place.

Parley is worse than Rebecca Black's music.
Triple Triad FTW!

while i agree that it should be harder parley .... i also hate parley cause it's all mixed into the mission battles, there is no place for things like this in missions. i want bosses and mini bosses and party play not parley play in my missions. they should remove them and add them to soemthing else, and for sure they need remove them from battle ones, if they do plan on making any type of missions even close to cop or ffxi missions then waiting for others to parely inbetween is just stupid too. i dunno what they thinking with this, they are rruining missions witch are the best single most important thing for the final fantasy rpg mmo, it's the only thing that set it apart from other mmo's and there stupid box of text quests and no cutsceen missions that no one in there right minds read.

Please make parley less annoying than they already are (like improving the speed 3x), removing it completely would be nice as well. Nice concept, horribly executed.

Kill parley.
And let's hope it takes the retainer wards with it.

I've been R20 for well over a month and have yet to encounter Parley in the game :[

I am one of the odd ones whom actually like playing parley. However, when I do well and get max score, there's no benefit over getting a mere passing score. There should be some small additional reward like perhaps a few thousand gil.
Also, it would be much more greatly appealing if it was an available option to play between players themselves, putting items up for stakes. The fact that it only exists within the means of a few scattered quests makes it feel a tad wasted. Although it was a clever way to give people who didn't have a battle class up to rank the ability to participate in the first few story line missions.
For those who didn't enjoy it, at least you only had to do it a handful of times and never again. For those who did, there's just unfortunately no way to access it once you've completed all your questing. Unless you want to pointlessly play an easy round against the tutorial npc.
Please make it a public option amongst players if possible. Hopefully opening the door for other player to player mini games :)
And before people throw me to the sharks of La Noscea for being a parley fan, I full-heartedly believe a card game would be infinitely cooler :p Especially if the cards were collectable items from participating in other activities in the game.
For the OP, I believe your idea is good and sensible.
