DualShock 4mmo
As I was using my DS4, I flashed back to the Sega Genesis and the popularity of Street Fighter II. Sega was able to solve the problem of having only 3 action buttons by introducing a new 6 button controller. It seems that something similar could be done for console-based MMOs.
My first thought for an MMO specific controller is that the digital directional pad is potentially unnecessary with the analog sticks being present. You can replace the action buttons with a six-button setup. The kicker is that could also replace the digital directional buttons with the same six-button. This would add much more flexibility and efficiency for accessing necessary actions/ macros during the game.
I believe that dedicated MMO players would purchase something like this to make their console experience a little less tedious and a little bit more enjoyable. I realize that Square Enix doesn\\'t make controllers but they probably know a guy that knows a guy... just saying.

Controller is just fine as it is. SE made a damn good job at it. And if you want more buttons you can always hookup a keyboard.
The D-pad is used for party targeting(up/down) and filter targeting(left/right). So far as both a healer and dsp I have no issues with it.
