T7 renaud help please

Hello all. In my coil static I kite the renauds as my smn because my dots still dmg while im moving and so the brd can focus on other things. I'm having some issues with this mechanic.

1: My biggest concern is the single stack vs 4 stack method. We tried both and while I feel the 4 stack is better in the long run were sticking with 1 at a time. We tried 4 stack for a bit and it worked but then somewhere down the line the renauds "defrosted" and wiped us. After a few wipes we went back to 1 stack. We've been past the last add but some deaths occur and things get chaotic with renauds, the floor and petrifaction. If I can perfect the 4 stack method and not worry about renauds showing up after the first 4 that is a big weight off my shoulders and I can better contribute to the dmg output.

2: I need advice on placement. I've been trying to stack them in between the inner and middle red ring. There's a slightly different tinted green circle in between those 2. That's where I've been aiming. Do they have to be stacked literally on top of one another for the voice to hit them all? Either my placement is off or our healers aren't hitting them all with voice.

3: Do renauds block one another from voice?

4: Another problem I have with kiting is when I'm pulling the renaud into position and voice is about to go off before I can miasma. Sometimes the healers are accidentally hitting me with the voice. I can't control where I will be standing when that happens. If you want the monster at a specific spot I need to standing at X. No exceptions. My placement is all determined by where he showed up. I tried saying I'll be standing at this point but I can't control where I can stand when I'm luring him into position. Anything I can do to avoid getting blasted or luring him while standing on the side?

5: We have 3 rng dps in my static. 2 brds and my smn. The brds stay in fixed positions unless they have to move. Sometimes I get them hit with double fireballs because I have to move around the map. Or when were in the center to avoid shriek I don't run out of the center fast enough. Any advice on avoiding double circle of flames?

6: How far away do the healers have to be to hit all 4 renauds?

7: Everyone says the sweet spot for blocking shriek is just outside his hitbox. Well how large is his hit box? How many steps/feet/inches should I be for maximum party protection?

1. If you use 4 Ranauds method, you must control phase changing.
- Wait for voice before hit 80% HP
- Wait for voice before hit 60% HP
- Wait for shriek before hit 35% HP
If you skip phase, do not hesitate to kill Ranauds.

2. Stack at middle ring close to inner ring, this placement makes shriek'd member has place to stand behind Ranauds when AoE happens

3. Yes, it does. Ask healer or you yourself to check stone'd duration if all are refreshed.

4. Communication and healer to get used to to your kite style are key. But if Ranauds spawn at the same time of voice and it out of position,
healer must focus on stoning previous Ranauds while you kites new Ranaud and wait for next voice/shriek.

5. Other range dps can stand at 10.30 and 1.30 where boss at 12.00 and you can just stand between inner and middle ring
without getting shriek'd (Its safe spot is conal, adjust angle based on where Ranauds stand).
Don't get too close to center or healers will get circle of flame'd.

Tip : if possible, after miasma Ranaud, you turn Ranaud face to boss (no need exactly face). healer might get circle of flame but it is ok at initial phases. Then tank big add near boss (10.30) when she spawn. All Ranauds will be stone'd over and over by Shriek and Petrification mechanic (healer's voice also)

1) My advise to any team that is doing the 4 stack method to take note that there is one bad RNG combination that will caught your team off guard. When your stacked renauld defrosted despite your healer being 100% sure that his/her voice indeed covered them all, it is because your healer first got a short voice, which is 4s, and the immediate next voice is a long voice, which is 9s. The difference in time between a short and long voice is too huge and will cause the renaud to unfreeze before the long voice can be fired off. The plausible solution to this is to have the DPS and healer to both use their voice to freeze all the stacked renaulds.

4) It's your healer's fault. Can't they be more flexible? Assuming you are doing the conventional method of placing the renauld at 6 o clock of the boss, your healer don't always have to point the voice dead 6 o clock at all. If you happen to be around at 7 o clock they can point their voice towards 4:30-5 o clock direction and you will be fine. Tell your healers don't be a lazy ass. :rolleyes:

5) The responsibility is not yours alone. It's shared among the team, you guys need to settle it among your team. First thing, there is no such thing as fixed position to me and make you as a kiter move. To me, the kiter have the bigger priority, you have to allow him to do his job, so while he is at it, the rest of the team get the f out. I mean, it's so simple. If it's difficult to see, mark the 3 ranged DPS so that you can see each other, do each other a favor and avoid each other. I've done both 2 and 3 ranged DPS before and we did fine - we basically hang around in a general direction (3, 5-7 and 9 o clock) but we don't call ourselves fixed. We move if we have to (ie kiter needs to use our space, we move to accommodate him)

When stacking for shriek, you can use the similar T shaped formation or triangle. For my team, the kiter takes the 6 o clock position, standing on the line of the inner circle (ie right in front of the renauld). The other 2 DPS can stand either at 2 or 3 o clock on the right or 9 or 10 o clock on the left. It would allow ample space not to be double circled. And all 3 of you have to make a conscious effort to move out immediately shriek is fired off (unless poison is about to explode).

Other than that, circle of flames comes in a rather fixed interval/rotation. I don't memorize the rotation but after so long, I could somehow predict when it would about to come. If you know it's coming, avoid crossing the center or your teammates. Anyways you will be staying away from the rest of the team most of the time. I suppose you do use voice com - if you have to get near any of them, use the voice com to sound out you are incoming as well (like I always do, I always call out "healers I'm coming in for shriek") so that they will move away if they are standing on my spot. It's quite a team effort thing.

6) Assuming you place renauld between the outer and middle circle strip, your healers just need to hang around the inner circle will do. Healers should not be moving a lot and concentrate on healing.

7) Hit box refers to that circle indication thing on the floor when you click on something - be it a player, a NPC or even an object. You will see a circle thing around it on the floor. That's the hit box.

Hi Frost Bite, I thought I would be able to give some input because my group is also working on this part. Like you, we've been getting to the last add on good runs, but the chaos of things not being placed perfectly has proven to be a challenge. As people become more comfortable with the fight, it will become less of a chaotic panic and more of a scientific execution.

1) Honestly, I prefer the four stack method... and here is why: if you put everything together perfectly, you never have to worry about it again. Also, your tank(s) won't have to adjust for where the add is frozen, and your dps/healers can pick spots to stand in so that people don't get mpk'd with multiple fireballs while moving (scrambling to reposition could result in people running near each other, and someone who gets hit with two fireballs could die). The way my group has been doing it is... the bard picks up the add, but I miasma it when it gets in place. There is no reason why a SMN can't do everything, or why a bard can't do it with a scholar doing miasma (I've seen a win video of doing it this way -- so groups without a smn don't fear). We use brd+smn to kite to guarantee that if one of us gets voiced, we can still have the highest chance of freezing an add in place.

To address your concerns about the renauds going crazy and wiping everyone... with the four stack method, it is absolutely necessary that you control your dps so that phase changes occur after a voice. If the phase change hits, and one of your old renauds is still hanging around, it could unfreeze because a new voice didn't come out in time. For example, the first phase change (where the first 3 adds begin spawning) is at 80%. Make sure a voice happens right before the phase change. I forget the next phase change... but there are two more you need to worry about -- when the archers (4x adds) trigger and when the final add triggers. The one add at a time method doesn't require this sort of planning because you can kill the add immediately after you use it for one shriek. That's a tradeoff, but not a hard one to abide by.

2) Using a waypoint can help you get everything into position easier because you have an easy circle on the ground to aim for. Remember to account for miasma cast time and inherent lag, as you'll need to throw off miasma BEFORE it reaches the point you want it to be at, and it tends to take at least another step after it is placed. Once the renauds themselves are placed, it can be difficult to know exactly where they are due to the fact that they'll be facing different directions and their arms are out. The waypoint greatly helps prevent positioning issues. As far as positioning, we like to place the renauds in the exact center of the 'middle' ring (not the inner circle, not the outer ring... the middle ring, toward the back right... which ends up being the back when we pull the boss to the left). If you place all four renauds right on this point, or slightly closer to mid, the person with shriek can safely stand on the VERY outer edge of the middle circle and still keep everyone safe from shriek should the outer circle light up and be inaccessible in the later phases. If the renauds are too close to the person with shriek and the outer ring is lit up, the person with shriek will need to sac themselves on the outer ring or risk hitting everyone with shriek (due to being in the renaud's hitbox).

3) If they are already frozen, and not in the same hitbox, then yes -- renauds act as walls to each other. For example, if two renauds are in each other's hitbox, and another renaud is behind because your timing wasn't perfect... the two front ones will get hit by voice pointed at them, but the behind one won't. Likewise, shriek behaves in a similar way. If you mess up where you place them, or the healer needs to freeze one when it isn't perfectly in place yet, it is safer to just kill off the one that was placed incorrectly and wait for another renaud to spawn than it is to risk having to freeze multiple renauds (miss one and it will go berserk and kill the raid). Even with a few re-places, you should have all four renauds in place before the 4x archers spawn (you have a lot of time to kill between the 3x adds and archers, and very little to worry about during the in-between phase... take the time to get it right).

4) You can get unlucky with this, and it's frustrating if you are doing the 4x stack method. This is the reason my group has been doing bard+smn combo to place -- on the occasions where one of us gets voice and has to face away, the other can keep kiting to keep the renaud in position. As far as NOT getting hit by voice, you really just have to make sure you're not standing behind the renaud when the healer throws it off. Keep in mind that voice positioning is slightly different for everyone. The healer's voice could go off before or after the dps's. If you get shriek, make sure you see the healer's voice go off before you run behind the renaud. Sometimes, renauds will spawn and you just won't have time to get them in a position before voice, or you'll get voice and won't be able to get the renaud in the right position before the healer uses voice. Don't worry about that. If the renaud is incorrectly placed, just kill it and try again. It's not a catastrophe if you have to replace.

5) If you are using the four stack method, dps can get more comfortable with their positioning. For example, I always stand toward the left side, while the BLM is to the right. The bard hangs out in the back. Other dps know not to cross my path, and I know not to cross theirs, but as always keep your eye out and play zoomed out so you can see everyone. Also keep in mind that the boss likes to throw off fireball between voice+shriek (every other voice) and immediately after shriek goes off. So, after you see shriek go off, make SURE you are not near another dps. The only time this is kind of tricky is if your OT is positioning adds (because you might run into that group). In this situation, you can always stand on the boss's butt immediately after shriek, then move after fireballs trigger (they won't hit you if you are within the boss's hitbox -- which is why melee/MT won't ever get hit by fireball while they are on the main boss... but they CAN get hit while they are killing adds, so watch for that too).

6) They should be stacked on top of each other, so not very far away. However, we had one attempt before I got very good at timing where all four renauds were in a wall formation on the outer ring. All four renauds could be hit by one voice, because the conal AoE was wide enough. I don't recommend this because the healers will be forced to make a wider arc, and that means less of a safe area for others when voice is up. On the other hand, tanks have an easier time positioning, and dps/healers don't have to worry about squeezing in so tight when shriek is up. There is a tradeoff, but in general I recommend practicing getting all four renauds inside each others' hitboxes.

I hope this helps you! Don't worry if you aren't a pro at it yet. I got super frustrated/annoyed the first day I tried kiting because I kept making really silly mistakes that I otherwise wouldn't have made... but, after a while, you'll become comfortable with it. I would suggest putting all of your energy into figuring out exactly how to position those renauds, even if it means your DPS suffers for a few attempts. Mastering placement is basically half the fight.

1. Whichever works out best with your group is what you should do. If your dps is fast single stacking is better since you'd have to wait for voices before each phase change otherwise. As for the end of the fight you need to wait for a voiceor shriek before killing the Prosector. If not it's very easy for you to end up with a large window between your next renault and it'll usually be impossible to get it petrified before shriek, much less in a good position.


2. If you're doing 4 stack just put down one waypoint and try to have them all as close to centered on it as you can. It can be hard depending on voice timers but you can kill any far out to adjust. Single stack just get them somewhere good for shriek. you might want to move them up after phase 3 and beyond, incase the floor can nuke your shriek guy.

3. They can and will, healers need to just stand in the renaults. I know this might be hard for them though, I've told mine about 100 times when we try 4 stack and I always have to check to see if any got missed since they won't stand inside of them.

4. Your best bet is to drag it a bit further on one side so you can keep running along the edge while your voice goes off and hope they're centered enough depending on the healer's timer. if not just kill it. Or hope your healers are attentive enough to move as you move.

5. The BRDs should probably be higher up. They can proactively move if the OT has an add close enough for circle blade to reach them early in the fight and later on they could literally stand against the wall melusine is facing as long as they're out of circle blade and tail whip range and they'll likely be 100% safe from shriek as well. None of you have to stack into the center for shriek, just near it. If your healers aren't sticking out of the middle like dummies you have plenty of breathing room where you could have 2 ranged dps on each side of them and everyone would be safe. There's that much room, everyone's just paranoid about getting hit by melusine when nothing but circle blade can reach them from behind and it isn't that big.

6. If they stand in them they'll hit them all. They have huge targeting circles. If you're making some kind of line they'd have to be farther away or be good at cones and angles (on the plus side petrified renaults do block you from getting hit with voice in that situation.)

7. The targeting circle of everything in the game is its hit box. You, me, Renault, Twintania, everything. As long as you aren't standing in them you'll be fine. they can tab the renault and look at its circle to get a feel for it. To further point this out, even if someone blocks shriek properly if you were standing within the renault's targeting circle from the front side you would be petrified. Since the cone the renault makes doesn't count people standing inside the renault.

The hardest part for me was what to do with the renaud when he spawns in a bad spot and there is no way to get him in place before voice goes off. I learned to kite them around the outer ring of the map if that happens. I've taken him clear around the boss and everything to avoid shriek, voice, the floor, petrifaction but I feel I finally know what to do.

I always go as SMN and kite/place the 4 Renauds together. Another advice I would give you is that as the group gear up every week, for sure the DPS will grow higher. How I deal with this is instead of holding back the DPS, if let's say Voice didn't come just before 80%/60% phase change, I'll just kill of the already petrified Renaud(s). It would be a lot more easier, in my opinion and which is what I have been doing. At 80% mark, there'll only be one petrified Renaud anyway, if voice didn't come just before 80% phase change, just kite the new one to the position, miasma it, then kill of the old Renaud. At 60%, there might be 3 or all 4 petrified Renauds, if voice didn't appear just before that phase change, just kill all of it. A new Renaud will spawn, kite it there, voice will be casted and used on it followed by Shriek, so everyone will still be safe from Shriek. After that, just kite and bind the next 3 Renaud at the same spot again, and forget about them lol.

That's my experience as the SMN kiter that I would like to share out

When this happens I bring the Renaud to the designated spot then Swiftcast Miasma 1 on it to lock it in place. I've never had to kite them too much unless they're in a close spot and my SC is down (e.g. behind the other Renauds that've been stacked). Then at that point I just kite them in small circles taking extra care and attention to A) where the Renaud is walking and B) That I'm still farm enough away that I won't get hit but can still control it's movement.

I mark where I'm stacking the Renauds (the center of the second ring behind the boss [being tanked where it spawns]/close to the T6 exit) so I try to keep the Renaud partially in that circle at all times and usually it works out
